I'll be sitting my Car Theory Test soon

The Hazard Perception bit I think is quite easy but the Multiple Choice I think is quite hard

I must be thinking too much about it...lol

Anyone got any hints or tips about how to get me through it

I've been doing practise tests on the internet thanks to Adam (Cooltiger) and I got a disc off my mate with all the stuff

Cheers folks :thumb:

I'll keep at the disc that my mate gave me - Everyone says the multiple choice is easy and hazard perception is hard but I find its the other way about...

I was worried about the theory test as well, I made myself study for an hour every evening for two weeks before the test, result was 100%, it wasn't to bad in reality,as I knew every answer before I went in, I just don't like tests.

vaughanmc
14-04-09, 08:14 PM
I'll be doing a test every night or maybe 2 up until the proper date! I've been doing that so far

Just need to get the finger out and by the actual book thing to brush up on road signs and braking distances etc :)

Just keep revising etc mate,i must admit it seems a lot harder now from when i did mine with the hazard perception test and all that now but good luck and all being well you,ll be driving to pv this year and giving your dad a break lol :thumb:

I actually found the theory behind it well easy compared to the hazard thing...
Most of it is just common sence TBH.

Get the test book, then go thru and highlight the answers.

Then read it and you just read the answer, you'll remember it all that way.

Huge cheat but..

Its all just common sense bud but i found reading through my test book (yes book not disc lol) on the morning and looking up the ones i had no idea of and the answers to them on the morning before i went for my test, helped as about ten came up, bonus...

I can has 35/35 = 100%:thumb:

I will need to buy a book as well then! :)

The theory test is booked, yes :thumb:

I don't think I'll be driving to PVS but I'll can drive some of the way with the L plates on...

i got my lass through hers a couple of months ago. nearly every night we sat at the computer and she worked through the disc and i also made her go through a highway code book with questions in. it was road signs that kept catching her out so i just kept going over them with her.

vaughanmc
14-04-09, 09:06 PM
Aye it's the road signs, braking distances and 'what to do with injured people' that catches me out

Cheers Spudly, I'll just crack on with it - I can drive about an hour from my house to the motorway and from the motorway to Santa Pod

I'll be really cool driving in with my L plates on lol :thumb:

I found it very easy but make sure you dont get carried away in the hazard perception!

vaughanmc
14-04-09, 09:53 PM
Nah I took my time with the practise one and only dropped a couple of marks! It made it clear at the start basically that 'clicking frantically, gets you no where' lol

Nova_Sean
14-04-09, 09:54 PM
Good luck with it mate.

I only practised the questios as my hazard bit didn't work...

The hazards are pretty much common sence i thought...

Got 50/50 and 63/75

vaughanmc
14-04-09, 09:55 PM
I'm getting 40/41 out of 50 and about 65/75...

kelbelle
14-04-09, 09:57 PM
Like most people said just get the book that has every possible question in it and learn them. Most of the questions are the same just rephrased and most questions have the same answers in a different order. The only thing you really need to learn is braking distance, following distance (and difference depending on the weather) and speed limits etc.

I got 50/50 on theory and something like 55-75 on hazard perception

Joe Richardson
14-04-09, 09:58 PM
I got 46 out of 50 on the questions

and 62 out of 75 on the hazard part:thumb:

vaughanmc

I'll need to get a book! That's my personal challenge, but I'll likely send my mum or dad for it lol

kelbelle
14-04-09, 10:02 PM
Go on ebay for one, after I did my test i sold mine on ebay for like 2.50 so should pick one up cheap but make sure its the right one

vaughanmc
14-04-09, 10:03 PM
Anyone point me in the right direction of one - Since it's me and I'm loved (I think) you can post eBay links in this thread just to help me out :thumb: :D

Yup thats pretty much what i was getting at lol

I never did any revision and had a hang over when i sat mine, although i wouldnt advise you to go down that route :wtf:

vaughanmc
14-04-09, 10:05 PM

Why use the book. Do the online tests, get the CD rom.

Theory test is p!ss easy IMO - as said its just common sense. I passed mine (one of the last paper ones) with zero revision and just a few mock run throughs to get an idea of the test questions.

Hazard perception is a bit ghay though, I did that once on a practice CD one of my ex's had (fcuk knows why she had a CD, divine intervention would have been more use to help her pass). Failed it the first time because I clicked as soon as I saw a hazard, which is obviously the wrong thing to do

Cormac
15-04-09, 10:25 AM
If you need a lend of the Hazard Perception CD let me know, I could send it over to ya!!

Cheers Cormac :thumb: I have one down the stairs like but every little helps :)

13-05-09, 05:06 PM
Not be long until the theory test :)

Been doing practise tests online/CD's, reading the highway code etc

It's kinda starting to make sense

I just need to pass it now!

The nerves are building lol

muzzy
13-05-09, 05:09 PM
I would worry about it dude, its very easy. Once you pass its a good feeling because its one hurdle out of the way before you can drive.

stupot89
13-05-09, 05:36 PM

what i dont get is what they class as a high gear and what is a low gear.
one question was about changing gear to help control speed down a hill which you would choose what i would call a higher gear such as 4th or 5th.

and then another question came up about driving up a hill in which you would choose a lower gear such as 1st 2nd 3rd

but im not entirely sure on which is low and which is high?
help?
