Yeh i was soo surprised 40 minute drive away so £52 for Koni's i was chuffed, unused but needs dust gaurds and springs and thats not the worst thing in the world. just glad there new! got to love ebay sometimes
yea love a ebay bargain me, springs are no money so its all good
nova_saloon
29-10-10, 01:12 AM
thats what im pleased about so going to get some correct rated springs then my uni is close to the Koni uk base so will be bothering them for some dust covers, if there not on there i wont give it love before they leak!
yea, just go there and demand, im sure they will comply
nova_saloon
29-10-10, 07:44 PM
gave them a call. said nothing was missing from the Kit, that they didnt supply dist covers and i am to use my own. and i can get custom springs to my speck for £80 posted so not bad to have brand new koni coilover suspension setup including custom springs for £132

Dude no disrespect but konis suck ass, i had some on my first nova xe and imo there really poor quality for the money (RRP).

yeh well instead of paying 886 or whatever they do ask for them roughly im paying 132. so for the price, you cant complain at all in the slightest! what was so suck ass about them? did you have coilovers or standard dampers

damn nice nova :} i would have kept the 1.3 in it just for originality ,but each to their own .rare coluor :]
scott.parker
29-10-10, 09:35 PM
I had the coil/adjust shocks etc, and just found the build quality to be really poor on them, and the adjustments seam to do nothing on the dampening side of thing in comparison to other better makes, i was not attacking you personally, just had such a bad and very disappointing experience from them that i must of gained a hatred for them! lol
nova_saloon
29-10-10, 10:49 PM
lmao, i was taking a light hearted read to you compliment and wanted to know what you found dissapointing with them. well its good to know will see how they feel. i do find it a bit strange that the threaded adjustable bit can be slipped off and is stopped when you slide it down by a 2mm metal ring (c clip sorta thing) where yours like this?
(why i hate text, things can be taken the wrong way. I could never hate you your nova be yellow lol, thats a good enough reason for anyone)

ohh mate she should be in a nice warm garage in this weather let me have her lol

06-12-10, 01:52 AM
Sure heres the keys she a pain in the **** anyways!!!! Recently started mixing oil in the water so i replaced the head gasket still flushing the system every now and then as little bits come through!, water pipe split so temp fixed it at the moment by stuffing latex in to the crack and melting it there then wrapping insulation tape roudn it followed by gaffa, holding nicely actually. leaking oil like a bitch not sure where from, looks to be sump though. which is always the case so going to replace the gasket again with lots of SEALANT!!!! brand new CV joints and one has started clicking!!! stupid git!, and there is a clunk every time i accelerate and brake and still cant find the *******!!! getting to that point where i want to take it to a garage and have them look at it to be honest! and front bumper still needs sanding and respraying!, a job for tomorrow perhaps! wish i could keep her in a garage, but an everyday car has to be used everyday which is a ****ter! might just buy another nova so i can just piss about with this one more, jsut afraid the other one will steal all my money like this one, but i do have a spare redtop in the garage sitting there screaming rebuild meeee!!! with BOOOOOST y0! lol must be done
dj_wudgey
06-12-10, 11:56 AM
get another nova or a corsa bought and just save her matey!! oh and you know you'd be well better off with a 1.3 on 40's much more reliable lol!! id have her sorted though if you gave her to me!! if you buy another just buy the best one you can get!! im getting a corsa b and putting a xe in that as a every day driver!!
bakerznova
07-12-10, 12:20 AM
make sure when you've got it all sorted get some pics up and
i'm with wudgeytake the xe out and get the 1300 sr back in :thumb:
nova_saloon
07-12-10, 01:02 AM
that is a good idea, for an everyday a xe corsa or nova is good, great mileage and pretty reliable and a bit of a jaw dropper if your foot gets heavy lol. But i got slightly stiff suspension and its a bit of a pain to drive around, i want another xe/let nova but with higher suspension!, there are some steelies going just solid stealies, thinking of getting them for the sr what you think? repaint them a nice black or something?
dj_wudgey
07-12-10, 06:33 PM
the steelies would look ok!! the suspesion is stiff as fook on the sr ad i dont have a problem with it i love it lol!! but then i dont use it every day!! get the xe put in a corsa b or sumat and get a 1.3 in that sr!! thats why i want a daily with a xe so i can thrash it lol

The truth is that it is a job without words, by the way you're going to put him a stereo or just going to stop the series?

Thanks, all in an afternoons work. I used Upol X-plast dark grey. They say mid grey it the one to use, but i dont like it. to light, dark grey looks so much better as you can tell. Plus it gives that texture of the original bumper as its the stuff for the job. Plus it smells the absolute sh1t! expensive stuff but certainly worth it as you can tell can get it cheaper im sure but this is just incase your not sure what it looks like http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Upol-Plast-X-Dark-Grey-Bumper-Paint-AUDI-/290504227263
Yeah ive heard of u-pol looks like a perfect colour match, so, you don't need to prime it first?
nova_saloon
14-12-10, 01:39 AM
thats stage 5 of the supposed upol system of bumper respray But at 10-15squid a can i just go for plastic primer and the xplast, because as you can see from my bumpers in early pictures, it hasnt failed yet! but this is there system http://www.u-pol.com/product-cat/131/plast-x%C2%AE-plastic-bumper-and-trim-top-coat-aerosol-paint.htm

nova_saloon
16-12-10, 12:05 AM
certainly cant go wrong with brand new. i would do the same and go buy everything brand new. one day i will go nuts with the nova on spending money and cleaning everything, then it will be locked away as i will be to scared to do anything to it.
dj_wudgey
16-12-10, 02:00 AM

well nearly been 6 months since i last updated and that was the bumper! and that feels like yesterday, so much uni work, time just flies
well now im on summer holiday ive got spare time, so i picked a gearbox The other day from the famous Colin. Got the gearbox home and began a power washing session on it, fully drained it, painted it, fully drained it out, then replaced the CV seals and the main shaft seal. Whacked it back together and Walah

nova_saloon
16-06-11, 11:27 PM
Painted it with Simoniz Engine enamel silver Bout £9 a can, i was going to do hammerite, but ive been hearing stuff about the quality of it has really gone down hill. and this stuff stuck great. And i did the differential cover plate, clutch inspection plate and the clutch arm in Ford Graphite grey, then lacquered :D

Looks good! I wasn't sure if you would need a primer for it to stick but obviously not. Know what I'm buying now :-)

Another reason i bought it was because it says no primer required and that its engine enamel so its a little tougher and a bit more resistant to heat, and wil stick to a slightly greasy surface, But it needs a sodding good shake, i shaked it for about 2 mins and came out a bit thin i was like this is a bit ****, so i took some paint out of it by spraying it and then shook it again and it was good coverage after that. was just a bit to full of paint for the ball inside to mix it up i think. came out really nice and tough after that.

Cheers. yeh after the conversation with the guy about hammerite i probably wont be using it again.
BUT more updates to follow soon hopefully :)

Needed rear arch repair, i got a full panel but i dont have the time to do a full respray right now, but the rust was ugly. So i just cut the rust out and made my own panel and welded that on, much better then ugly ugly rust :)
so heres the repair.

Great work on the box, worth getting 10 from Colin, cleaning, painting and ebaying.
Nice rear beam, how much were the rear discs and bearings? I need some soon.

19-08-11, 10:31 PM
Rear discs were 40 or 50 quid posted off of ebay, and they are mintex ones to. and the bearings are just standard nova ones believe it or not, was well surprised at that. so you can get them quite cheap bout £20 both sides if you get them off of ebay to, sound like a proper ebay nut.
yeh the gearbox came out nice, but i stuck it in and found out that its either a f20 with the f16 CR gears inside or a different final drive as its a lot low ratio on all the gears then my f16 and does 70-80mph at around 4,000rpm!!! which is stupid, feels like your driving in 4th gear not 5th, so im in the process of rebuilding the old gearbox as I prefer MPG to wheels spin mania!
but glad the rear wing is done, always annoyed me looking at it. but it really needs the full body rebuild and respray, but god knows when that will be!
