ok iv'e got a pioneer head unit , jbl speakers replacing the OE front and back ones plus a rockford amp running a kenwood sub.

in my shelf iv'e got jbl 6x9s but want to know how to wire them up as ive got my rears already on the head unit ? the amp is just a two channel briged for the sub so would i need another amp or is there another way

if you buy the correct filters you can use your current amp

basically, keep the sub bridged, but then wire the speakers in on the two channels like you would if the sub werent there

then u need a low pass filter for the sub so only bass notes go to it

and then you need high pass, or lower (to accept some midrange) filters for the normal speakers.

alternatively you could buy a little box of tricks to do it all for you and you can set EVERY frequency for each speaker, but itll cost - so go the other route ;)!!!!!!!

erm it will put extra load on your amp but if its designed to work in tri mode ittll be fine

buy another amp then if u want - can get good cheap jensen ones from maplins - theyre VERY good for the money

well by running both sub and 6x9's off the one amp is possible but youd lose quality and power, youd only need an ickle(ish) amp to run the 6x9's, i recomend buying a seperate amp. keeping your origanal amp for a KICKING bass.

using crossovers (filters) is all well and good, and it does work, but as with most things in life your better off just keeping it simple, (unless you like a good old wiring session like me.)

u dont loose quality as such driectly. by powering more than one item it will reduce the power to each device obviously

by reducing power at low levels is fine, but when you turn it up high, then u loose your qulaity because the amp hasnt got enough juice in it.

much point?

at end of the day if you head unit is rated at 45w per channel

and you buy a 100w to 150 amp - then surely its a waste of time as you will be gettin 90w from your HU! 10w dont make a difrence!

Yeah fair point, evan though you just contradicted your self, im just trying to find the easyest option for stu as he dosnt understand the crossover theory. (no offence stu)
