hi all. rite ive just got my self a nice twin 40 matched pair sport carb set up with airbox..:D
but they need new gaskets between the carbs and the inlet manifold ive been looking round and have found 2 different types just wondering what are the best type to get?
set 1,
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=150333263825

set 2,

so what one would best to fit?

ive got set one on both my engines and havent had anyprobs. ive taken the carbs off many a time and because there all rubber you can use them again

Personally I'd go for the second type, the first ones look to easy to over tighten to the point where the rubbers are only providing a seal and not cutting down the vibrations.

i was thinking set 2 but just taken the carbs of the manifold and they have set 1 type fitted.. what to do..?

ive been using the ones in the first link with no problems at all... if anything they will give more movent for vibration dampening compared to the genuine misabs

I use the misab ones and haven't had any problems. As long as they seal and reduce vibrations they should work fine. If the carbs vibrate it can cause the fuel to foam and float problems

set 2 for me, seem alot better than the set 1 that was on there

Had set one, just purchased set 2. Seem much better fitting wise, but haven't run the car yet.

I used the 2nd set on mine. just be careful to tighten the carbs down equally and do not over tighten. This book is worth a look if you're playing with carbs...

Got the same book, its very useful especially if you are looking to rebuild or service the carbs :thumb: Also check the guide in the articles on section on png about fitting a 1.6 and twin 40 carbs, they recommend the misab set

I would go for the Misabs, but also do not forget the seciring nuts. I would recommend replacing the rubber bobbins that go on the manifold studs to mount the carbs.

Yes they are the ones, get some nylock nuts to stop them undoing as you don't tighten them up very much, need to leave a 1.5mm gap between the metal washers

Hi Ben, Paul posted the pulley today... Apologies for that!

When you fit the misabs, don't overtighten them. you should be able to rock the carbs slightly :)
