View Full Version : head gasket
what does everyone consider to be the best head gasket to use on the c20let, twice its gone on me and its always been replaced with standard. so uprated is the obvious choice now... but which one? the elring kit from chris astley sounds good (£75 kit), but iv also heard good things about cometic
steel one, iirc its from the z20let. needs a 5sec. adjustment to fit.
needs a 5sec. adjustment to fit.
in other words i have to hack at my engine to fit it lol
lol just put the c20let gasket on the z20let gasket.
there are 2 small 'staples' you need to drill out.

If you don't mind me asking, do you know why the HG failed twice?

Indeed. There is clearly another issue somewhere. Even on a heavily modded engine the std gasket should cope.
odds on the block face isnt flat, if thats the case then an MLS gasket is the LAST thing you want to consider lol
Yeah definatly get the head and block checked out! Im assuming you had the head checked and skimmed anyway? Whats going on it? Water/oil mix or clouds of white smoke and misfiring?

cometic ftw
well i was a little quick in saying it was the gasket that went twice (infact i was talking rubbish) , 1st time my head cracked, then the gasket went (i think it was downt to poor fitment myself).
god help you all lol
cometic ftw
so you think cometic is the route to take? what difference does the thickness make?

it depends on what cr you want to achive mate, i think they either come in in 1.3mm or 2.0mm (< used to be 1.9mm)
But i havent hurd of one failing yet an they are re-usable !!!
re-usable?!?!? serious??
I'v seen a few sizes by cometic, i take it its thicker the better (im still learning)
