help me get 1.6 gsi started lol :(

Hi my nova gsi has been standing 4 months, I come to start it today and it wont fire up properly. I have stuck fresh fuel in it. battery is fine i can get it started then it cuts out after about 10 seconds, then it just runs rough and pops flames. bit of a longshot but any quick fixes?? :)

Its flooding itself hence the flames popping becos of the unburnt fuel, as above plugs/coil/leads ect

/\ Give the relay a clout & maybe keep it in the airing cupboard for a couple nights to dry it out. Likewise maybe the AFM could do with drying out too.

It shouldnt be anything major. Just be sure to check the usual suspects* before spending money on new parts/mechanics wages.

* plug gaps, dizzy cap, rotor arm, leads, earths etc
