The alternator and starter run from the existing nova loom as originally used. Get some extra earths attached on the alternator if you haven't already done so.

You need a large +ve from the battery to the starter motor (large terminal). Piggybacked off that cable is a slighylty smaller gauge power wire which runs to the large terminal on the back of the alternator. You should have a black /red trace wire in your car loom which should have a ring terminal on it to put on the other alternator connection.
If the spare plug on the ECU/engine loom is a black, square plug with 4 or 5 wires (pic), just tuck it away & ignore it.

On the passenger side near the strut top where all the existing wires come from you should have the wiring  Otherwise do as Craig has stated.

That plug in the pic you simply ignore.
On the loom you just need to plug all the sensors into the loom, put the blue & red plugs onto the ECU. You should then have a black plug with 7(9) wires on. 5 of them need wiring into the car to make it all work. These incl the fuel pump relay wiring to the pump, live, switched live, temp gauge & rev counter etc (search for colours)
The starter & alternator wiring is as I stated above. If you dont have it simply get an auto electrician to make you a new mini-loom. Its dead easy.
