Right, I need to change the gearbox on my GF's parents 1989 Honda Civic 1.4. The dif has gone on it, so we've sourced a replacement.
The new box has had the selector shaft cut near the gear box... I'll get a pic up, but looking at it, it looks like it has a pin holding it all together. Obviously its been held in place for 20 years...
Whats the best plan of attack? Anyone have any experience?
Cheers!
Chris
I'd guess HEAT and lots of it :D

What sort of pin is it? If you manage to get it out is there room for a nut/bolt set up?

I don't have any heating equipment here :(
I could put a nut a bolt back in, but its getting the pin out and then the selector shaft from the housing!?!

Can you remove the linkage and use a tapping stick and drift/pin?
Got a pic?
drill it out, heat on the box is a bad idea, think rubber seals.....

If it a (roll pin) pin like so...

..drilling will be a nightmare. Tap it out and nut/bolt FTW IMO.
hammer and even size pin.. the thing is on he right angle, you can easely reach it when the car is up on a lift.
took me 10 minutes on a stupid b16b swapped ****box.
its a roll pin on the honda's mate. a decent punch or drill bit and it will hammer out...
