Hi all

Basically, just got my 2 new wings back from paint, and they shine really well, how can I get the car to shine like them?

I have used T-cut, 2k edgeblender and de-nibber,

But the car seems dull, is there anything thats good at bringing paint up?:thumb:

repaint it? or if the paint aint to sand it down with really fine paper then re-laquare it or just carry on with the t-cut for a good 5 hours :P

Paint it.

New paint is newer and fully of the oils sop it looks alot better.

Or get some proper stuff and buff the car by machine using a proper/better compound and then glaze and wax it right up.

Pics to follow of what can be done.

My mate got a 40quid astra. The paint was a total mat finish. No shine and ruff to the touch. After a few hours of my handly work it looked a lil better

Stan, you dont really need to polish after using g3, as g3 does all the jobs polish does.

Matt just bring it to me..lol Pics would help..

Oh and use a clay bar too! I fear your paint may be past the clay bar stage though by the sounds of it.....

Thats very cheap.

Tbh start with a lighter compound, in the hands of a noob you'll nburn the paint off.

Any pics of the car matt?

Do i buy compund or the liquid?

Benn

Compound is a liquid. But i'm talking of a lighter cut. As even g3 can be harsh.

When I got my Nova it was fairly faded and 'pink' looking

After a good wash with Autoglym shampoo, T-Cut, Autoglym Polish and some Meg's Carnuba Wax its a lovely deep Flame Red again:

I'm no detailer/valeter but I'd say the results are quite good :)

Tips,

Keep the mop head wet and moving.
Dont do near edges off pannel or near to swage lines.
Tape up handles and trims anything you might mark if you touch them.
Keep the head flat on the pannel.
Dont use to much speed.

Burn Baby Burn.

Handy tip.... warm water keep the buffing head really soft thus les chance to burn the paint.

bens tips are bang on

years ago when i used to help out at a valeters, the guys would wet each panel with water from a spray bottle and apply th G3 with a damp /wet cloth

then keep the mop head moist, not to fast , keep it flat so u can control it easy

I used to use G3, converted to 3m fast cut plus a few weeks back. Much easier and cleaner to use. Its already lubricated so no need for water etc

Benn

3m fastcut is what i use, works really.

For a noob tho i'd say use water with everything..lol Or they'll burn all the paint off.

*i know my tips are good..lol i do it most weekends*

Cheers guys!

Need to buy a buffer me thinks!

Also, a patch of the rear arch has been tin sprayed, and is rough to touch?

If I buff it will it shine?

Or do I need to break out the laquer?

Try buffing first, but not too much incase the paint is kit kat wrapper thin and you burn through.
