View Full Version : V6 owners - come to the aid of a 6Cyl Brother
Can you take a look at your coil and see if it looks like either exhibit A (square plug) or exhibit B (round-ish plug), and let me know what year the engine is, and if there's a part number on the coil? And what car its in (or was from)?
Exhibit A

If my suspicions are correct, which I hope they are, the first one should be a 1995 coil, whilst the second one is a 1996-97 coil...
Yesh, we need exhibit A just to confirm.
Ill buzz your old one out tomorrow now I have the correct resistances to look for, but there really isnt anything else it could be seeing as Ive just completely redone the engine harness from top to bottom lol
Maybe we're doin' it rong. Wireless coil to go with the old wireless ICV? lol

unfortunately a coil can appear fine with a buzz/resistance test :( its when you get cranking KV through it that the problems surface
A, its always A the same as its always the big red button you have to press in an emergency!!
Trust me, I work for the NHS.
for which V6 engine? Veccy ones are completely different
For a saab B308i engine. Which is the same as the X30. At least if Vectra ones are different I can discount them
i see. vectra one has the plug in a different place. plug looks same as exhibit A

silly question, but whats the wiring connector like? my 1993 v6 i had had the square plug, and was from a 1993 model saab 900 se 2.5.
Try Mark T on MIG.
He's a bit of a V6 guru.

Mm, but I want to know what Vauxhalls had the square plug coil. So I can widen my search.

Omega Win (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vauxhall-Ignition-Coil-Pack-90444184-BOSCH-Omega_W0QQitemZ190296070422QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_C arsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item19029607042 2&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1683|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A13 18)
Used on cavaliers too, that one. Which makes sense, as Mazz's pic has the square plug coming out the side. Groovy.
vectra is the same connector i believe just in a different position on the coil pack
Get the damn thing here FFS or i'm going to have Dans running before yours, and thats just going to be embarrassing as dans wasn't even painted when I started yours lol
Coil on its way :D
Cheers for the halp fellas.
