So to continue the bad luck with this engine, this morning i came out to see my car swimming in its own water.

Large puddle of water under the drivers side of the engine.

Got it up in the air and theres water dripping from the crank sensor? where could it be coming from? water pump?

Yer, deffo not thermostat housing (on the front of the head on the 16v's) and i checked that.

i need to check the rear hose, but i was in a rush this morning.

All shall be revled after my dinner hopfully

Water pump :(

Does the bottom pully have to come off to get the cambelt cover off?

to get the water pump out u gotto remove the cam shaft pulleys, the idler's and everything to get the rear cambelt cover off to gain access to the water pump. before anything check the small water block on the back of the head (inlet side) alternator bracket bolts to it aswell.

had this come loose on mine and loose water making me think it wa the water pump

Water is visable from around the pump.

was on mine mate aswell hence why i said check the above.

i switched from x14xe to c16xe due to the leak and me thinking it was the water pump.

put the new engine in and only realised then it was the small water block on the back of the head

8 valves ftw :p

I simpathise if you have to take all of it apart for the water pump. :(

Yer, at least i can replace the cambelt. Anyone know the cheapest place to get a square tooth pump? I presume 8v ones are the same.
