looks a good base to start with.always wanted a wide arch kit!

what wheels are you wanting?

twin40s
07-04-09, 01:41 PM
i've got some mo's

chimp007_uk
07-04-09, 02:33 PM
I saw this ont he bay... Looks good!

I don't think standard GSI bumpers will fit, you might have to look at the rallycross fibreglass ones. Have a look on Colin's cosworth project. Also with the mo's, if they're standard et49 offset, they will need heavily spacing or a bigger offset.

Good luck with it! Will make a mean car...

twin40s
07-04-09, 02:36 PM
I will be going wide track chimp so no spacers.

twin40s
28-05-09, 04:37 PM
well after alot of thought wide track seems out the question mybe one day i can get someone to make a kit up for me (count vaux alot). So i think going to have spacers or wheels made up want wheels really if anyone knows what measurements i need please help.

Took my car to the bodyshop thats doing my welding today havin the seams done and strengthing kit fitted the chassic leg has already been bashed in with a hammer but very tidy job will update with pics soon.

when stitch welding the shell, do u grind the welds down to smooth or leave them as is? and when u smooth the engine bay off, do u use filler? if so what type? thanks lads

Will F
23-06-09, 08:12 PM
Shell looks pretty good structurally - although it looks like the arches have been filled with expanding foam/fiberglass? May be the pics though....

Good job on the welding too!

How much was it?

twin40s
23-06-09, 10:38 PM
There is expanding foam in the arches check euro turbo his had it too don't know why. It cost me £400 for the welding £70 for the plate kit and they preped it all aswell i hate seam sealer.

As for the question about smoothing the bay i won't be will properly put seam sealer back on all the weld the underneath is going to be stone guarded.

twin40s
23-06-09, 10:57 PM
Also as someone who owned the car b4 took the seat runners out i brought some seats so will need to weld in some rails anybody who could help me do this or know of a thead detailing what to do thanks.

Dont wuote me but i think the exspanding foam is used for a couple of reasons,

1, Stops mud n dirt getting all the way up where u cant reach and rotting ya panels.
2, Stops the rear arches acting like parachutes and cracking due to wind..

26-04-10, 02:56 PM
anyone got any ideas?

Iain
26-04-10, 05:13 PM
It's for the whole pedal assembly, I think it's still necessary even with a Corsa servo. I did a similar thing and welded over it to find it was required so ended up fitting a new one of those little brackets with the nut on.

For the servo, there's been a couple of threads about it and there's some pics in my WIP from when I modified my shell for it too.

I remember this shell when it was for sale at JNC. What did the bodyshop say when you mentioned the seam sealer?

JNC = Just Novas and Corsas, a Nova specialist place that used to be in Long Eaton, Notts. I'm sure it was for sale there years ago.
