right my 2.0xe nova has got an inlet with t.c on it i have removed the flap out of it so it wont effect the engine. what i need to know is can i unplug it and cut out all the wires from my engine loom without it putting the engine into limp home mode or flashing up any faults :thumb:

dont know if im correct but you may have to change ecu and possibly loom? i may stand corrected.

to hell with that howcome

as i say i may be wrong but i would of thought that it may of been a dif ecu for TC therfor if you cut wires or unplug it will not be getting a signal.

p.s i will delete these if im wrong.

Because the ECU will have traction control info which it will feed back to the engine. So you may need a non TC ECU/loom setup.

EDIT: i am not 100% sure, but it would make sense...from an engine management point of view.

woop woop i was right.

Is it a major issue having TC then? I take it your engine/loom is from a mk3 Astra GSi then?

is sure is from a mk3 gsi pete not a big problem just want to tidy things up under the bonnet and get rid of some siht

still need more info

i will just unplug it see what happens lools

if the throttle cant reduce the torque enough to stop wheel spin, the it will start pulling fuel/spark out... so it may really hamper things with it unplugged/plugged in but not linked up etc

mine had traction control out of astra gsi all i did was change throttle position sensor because its not 3 pin its got like6 pins and put mk 2 astra gte loom in and got rid of vacum solenoid under manifold for tc .still runs fine on astra gsi ecu though .

is there not a button to turn the t/c off in the original car? if there is, why not solder them together/split them (whichever the button does) and then its turned off (all-be-it cowboy'd) until such a time when you can get a new loom and ECU?

oops i have taken out the flap... how would the ecu know the wheels were spinning. im asuming the t.c would need a signal from the abs sensors

cheers mate needed someone who had the same issue might try that :thumb:

good idea dunno if it had a switch to turn it of on the dash will find out :thumb:

dont think the original astra would of had a button.

how would the ecu know the wheels were spining without abs

ABS wont have anything to do with it. abs is anti locking brakes.

Vauxhalls poor excuse for TC generally runs as a piggy-back system on the ABS. It uses the ABS wheel sensors to get it's info from, and cuts the spark or applys individual brakes via the ABS system to control wheelspin.

The flap in the inlet manifold is purely for the dual-tract inlet system as far as I know, at least that's all it does on an X20XEV.

right found out what to do apparently. remove butterfly and leave the TC plugged in to stop codes. jobe done.

Two routes between the trhottle body and the head, a short one for high rpm to give better power, and a long one for low rpm/heavy engine load to give more torque, with a vacumn controlled butterfly flap to switch between the two.

do you think i should put the flap back in then mikey

Nah, rip the manifold off and get some nice big carbs instead!

I Know this is an old thread but am wonderin what the outcome was as i'm havin same trouble with mine.
Did replace loom or just take the butterfly out, if so how
