XE Nova Gear Linkage

We have tried to connect up my linkage, tried to turn the white plastic connector, but this makes the linkage to long. Has anyone experienced this? Or can anyone suggest what could be the problem as i thought this was a pretty standard hook up.

definitely a nova linkage you are using?

Have you got the spacers on the rear mount?
