Hey all,

I realy need help with this its driving me round the bend, iv tryed everything nearly, But its still doing it,

The problem im having is, If i drive it hard the engine temp will sit between 3/4 and the start off the red, with both off my kenlows slimline fans runing, And the inside blower fan on max, just to keep the heat down, But then when i drive it normaly it will sit a 3/4,

But when i sit say in traffic, with both fans it will slowey go in the red, and start to boil/bubble in the header tank, But if i have my blower fan on the max it will stay at 3/4,

Its a standard c20ne in a nova, before i put the engine in, I put a new headgasket and new water pump on it, Iv then put a proper GM thormstat and temp sender on it to, Im runing a standard SRI rad, With two 10inch kenlows rad fans on the front pushing the air thru to the engine bay,

But the oddest bit is when the temp is in the red, the rad is hardly hot i can but my hand on it, Im sure i anit got an air lock,

Thanks tom,

did you have the head pressure tested and skimmed

either the fan cools the water down in the rad or the thermostat isnt opening.

Yep the head was all skimmed and tested before it went back on, That thermostat is opening, im sure it is, Iv got a feeling the rad mite be blocked?

Well if the inside heater gets hot then the thermostat is open. (BTW thats if im thinking about it the right way)

Best thing you could do is try another rad. Even a 1.2 item will be fine (plenty of people use them on xe's)
