I'm in the middle of changing the sump gasket on my nova as it was leaking a bit, the previous builder of the engine has used sealant on it, i'm wondereing if I should be using some when reassembling it?

i have only ever used a gasket with a small amount of hylomar(non-setting gasket gell) to stop any small leaks.

Rtv is the sealent you want. Its black and oil and water resisant(sp) Its what most car makers (inc gm) and most engine builders will use.
And smells like salk and vinagar.
