Right, Its been long enough... It hasn't run properly in over a year!

The car was running but would struggle at 5000rpm (but now and then it would be fine), then one day it wouldn't start.
Flashed the fault codes, came back with ecu, crank sensor and fuel vent valve... Ecu was changed and no longer get that fault. I replaced the injector relay as well.

I had it run "briefly" but it now wont start again. It has good compression, weakish spark, and strong smell of fuel! I have changed the coil but still no different.

Any ideas??? Now I'm off work I'd like to sort it out :D

Cheers all! :thumb:

I've changed it once, and still nothing. I know they throw up a crank sensor fault until the cars running.

ahh ok so you got a spark but its weak are the plugs gapped properly are the HT leads ok are all the contact points on the dizzy clean(if you have one)

weak spark you say? have ya checked the dizzy cap and arm? leads ok? its a case of checking basics mate im afarid, as long as your getting permanent voltage at pin 27 of the ecu and switched voltage at pin 18 it should run fine.

Its an SEH 130 engine running standard everything. It's been a while since i last checked it, but the dizzy and arm were fine, leads are good and i cleaned the plugs and checked the gaps.

Sloth, checking the voltage at pin 27 and ignition live at 18, just disconnect the ecu and stick a multimeter on it?

Earth's all seemed fine, alternator, gearbox and battery. No plugs or sensor have been disconnected but the loom does look a mess, and I'm no auto electrician :(

I appreciate your help!

still having problems pal ? i know this sounds a strange one but i have an 2.0 seh in one of my novas and it developed the same problem i changed bloody alsorts of stuff, make sure your injectors are actually squirting (whip one out and turn ignition on briefly) now this sounds sad but i just took plug 1 and 3 out squirted bit of petrol into bores replaced the plugs and it fired up and kept running seriously after 2 years of non running! still confused now but fires like a dream

I checked the pulse of the injectors with the multimeter, but didn't check if fuel was going through all... There is a strong smell of fuel, and sometimes it does want to start but thats it...

I've taken some pics of the engine bay and non connected connectors etc to see if anything looks out of place.

All help appreciated! Cheers Tony!

Not sure what the red plug is but mine doesnt have the green one connected. What coil are you using? not a standard one, could try the normal red bull sized one.

Mmm yeah I thought these had a cylindrical (wet) coil.

Does that loose green plug not reach to the oil press sender area?
Red plug looks like fuel tank vent valve plug on my smallblocks...

Might be worth some new plugs if the old ones are wet fouled. Soaked plugs are ruined plugs.

hi you wanna put a gte spec coil on for starters as above cylinder type then just pull an injector out and do the squirt test, what colour wire is going to the red plug? poss red/blue ie fuel related ??
