Hi, I found this Haynes drivers guide not to long ago in a nova at the breakers yard. Read the whole cover and it says:

i actually bothered to read it last night and found out where the artical was and it made me laugh so much, this may be slightly long but worth it either which way! so im typing this out for your amusment The best are really the first one and driving in traffic
ADVICE TO WOMEN DRIVERS:
Unfortunatly, itsa fact that women are more likely than men to be a subject of unwelcome attention when driving alone. Theres no reason to think that driving alone spells trouble, but its a good idea to be aware of certain precautions which will help to avoid finding yourself in an unpleasent situation.
this section aims to give advice which will help to reduce any risks when driving alone, and will help you to deal with the situation, should you be unfortuante enough to find yourself the subject of unwelcome attention.
several organisations(some local po;ice autorities, AA, etc) run covers especially for women drivers, in which subject such as basix car maintence and self defence, etc, are covered.
SENSIBLE PRECAUTIONS
The Car
Make sure that youre familiar with your car. make sure that your car is regularly serviced.
Make sure you know how to change a wheel, and make sure the jack is in good condition.
THE JOURNEY
If youre planning to undertake a particularly long or unfamiliar journey, the following advice may be helpful.
if your travelling on an unfamiliar route make a few notes before you ser off,reminding yourself of the road numbers, where to turn, which junctions to use on motorways, etc. Try to stick to main roads where possible. Always carry a map.
Make sure that if you have enough petrol for the journey. if you need to fill up during the journey, make sure you do so in plenty of time, before the fuel level gets to low, and before petrol stations close if travelling at night.
if you think that your family of friends may be worried, youu may want to 'phone someone at your destination before setting off to tell them that your leaving., and tell them what time your expected to arrive. similarly, when you arrive, you may want to phone someone at your startinbg point to confirm you've arrived safely.
DRINVING IN TRAFFIC
avoid attracting unnecessary attention. avoid 'jokey stickings in car windows, which may encourage unwelcome attention. avoid ye contact with undesirables.
if youre being followed, pull over and slow down, but dont stop. dont drive to your home, but find a busy and well lit place. if the person following persists, blow your horn and flash your lights to attract attention.
if youre stopped by traffix or another vehicle, lock the doors and close the windows. Dont ram the other vehicle damage to your car might prevent escape.
LEAVING YOUR CAR
Dont leave any clues that the car is being driven by a women, make sure that any feminine items are hidden from sight before leving your car.
