Anyone know the best way to get a door open when the key refuses to turn in the barrel?

The lock needs removed as it was worn anyway but it has just said a big fcuk you by doing this now lol.

I was thinking hammer and screwdriver? Any suggestions which won't damage the door are FTW.

EDIT: have you got a key similar to the original? Maybe the difference in teeth pattern would work?

I'll photoshop you a decent door so you can get in your house. Still no good but at least I'm happy :p

Tried that Pete and all to no avail. I do hope someone doesn't get it open then steal my Lolvo and lock the door again onlly to be found undamaged a mile away in a totally hillarious April fools prank.

Brains, aye I'm hoping for that guy to show up lol

Only during work hours though? :p

Give me a Nova door then I will just bend back the frame like to get in. Or gain entry via osmosis as in Nova_lies1991's case.

Theres a few things i want you to try before i Pm you lol
Yank the handle up hard while wiggling the key,
Hit the barrel with a hammer,as a shock blow, not to blast it lol
Lift the door up as you try unlock,
Sounds like the barrel has failed tough, and the answer ive got ends up in a new barrel im afraid.

Cheers dude. Yeah barrel has failed. Had door to bits earlier but never had time to get a new one lol. Then reassembled and it sounds like the tumblers have fallen out or something?

I'm happy to go with option 4. Just tell me how big the hammer needs to be lol

then drill the middle out, and fit a new one. they are available from any decent lock/hardware shop. check your house insurance, there might be a lock policy....

Andy

I did that key from both side arghhh. I know a way to do it it in about 20secs. with out causeing any damage and no drill needed.

Pm me if need to know.

Cheers for all the help lads. Much appreciated. Sorted it this morning though, tap with the hammer was enough to get it open whilst turning a key in the other side.

i'm a fitter, and its a pain in the ass whichever method you go for

'drill the barrel' (good luck with this lol ). A lad over the road got locked out and called a locksmith, 3 hours later he was still drilling....i walked over and let him into his house in under a minute, his windows were externally glazed so popped them out and climbed in, the locksmith charged him over £200 even though he didn't get in lol

you know that plastic stuff that goes round boxes and really hard to cut, pry the door just a little bit slide it down the crack and then hook it over the door pin and just tighten and lift up, i once did it with a piece of pond reed lol

I'm pleased I never tried to drill then Dave. I want to be a locksmith. Seems a good trade to be in and going by the above I think I could be right lol.

lol @ nova_saloon. Nice one mate. I always thought that the pallet strapping stuff was a universal Nova key though lol

His drillbits must have been from toytown.
You obviously didnt have to tackle security tape then?

was probably drilling in wrong place. seen that before.

dave.gsi

no security tape, i rip windows out everyday and of all the externally glazed windows only about 2 % have tape to hold the glass in.

98% (like the fella over the road) have beads on the outside with rubber gaskets on the inside. your supposed to take the rubber gaskets out first, then the beads, then the glass, but in most cases you can pop the beads out with the gaskets in place......and most theives know this, thats why we only fit internally glazed windows........and why i'd never have externally glazed on any house i'd ever live in lol

You can remove a euro cyclinder barrel with the key that opens it :thumb:
