View Full Version : What colour/design for XE covers?

Right, now i'm going to fit my carbs and tidy up the engine bay, I though it would be nice for the engine to look a bt fancier for mincing purposes lol :D

Anywho... I had this bid idea of spraying them white with the black crackle over the top, then lacquer. Maybe spray the plug cover white?!? But... I can't find the crackle paint, so what ideas have you all got? Nothing too hard or ott.

Ive got mine done in anthrasite rocker/cambelt cover.... goes nice with white :)

I did look at satin black for the covers then white for the plug cover. The only thing is, I'm lazy and it'd need to have the lettering in black

I want to do red cam cover with polished plug cover on the kit car...

Sorry to kind of hijack but does anyone know of or have and pics of an engine with this paint scheme?

This is the wrinkle paint my mate used dude, from Halfords IIRC. Any good?

Cheers, but its like a cracking paint!?! You put a base colour down and then spray on thickly over the top and it cracks as it dries then lacquer.

Try Homebase?? They used to this sort of stuff when i worked there years ago.

haven't been to homebase, B7Q is where i saw it last but they only do a creme marble one now :(

have you tried wilkinsons (the home shop iirc) im sure ive seen crackle paint there before

Was thinking something funny, like dayglow colours or gold chrome lol but I didn't want to do and regret it :roll:

Ah my bad! I see. I would get Barron and Quaille to order the correct colour in? Nothing racist about the cap on the wrinkle paint BTW lol

lol why not :P i drove about a year om borbet T with a filler yellow center and polished lip:D
