Just fitted some Sony xs-F1035 10cm speakers
these are really slim, with a really small magnet only slightly bigger than the factory Nokia unit, and much easier to fit than the alpine SXE 1025S that every one seems to think is really easy
i got them from motorworld @ £27-99
hey are cheaper online, only £18-99 plus P&P but i needed mine asap
just thought people might be interested

probably so but believe me the sony is much easier due to its smaller size! before i bought them i tried to fit a Pioneer 10cm which was very tight, i compared it to the Alpine and it was the same in all dimensions

Can someone give do a guide or something on how to remove gm and put new dash speakers in. Seems like its a pretty tough job.

Dash out is easiest but longest way round, but it can be done relatively easily as long as you choose the right speakers.
The GM ones just twist out. You'll need to remove the grill/speaker facias, and glovebox for left one, and most of the dials surround and because I have freakishly long arms, I removed the central blower front (above heater knobs to left of dials) for even better access. The dials out would also be a good move, and can also be a good excuse to upgrade dash if you haven't yet!
Hope that helped somehow.

Sorry I actually meant dials, although it is a decent excuse to rip a Mk1 dash out and replace with mk2 in the mean time :D
If you have a mk1 though it's dash out and  I now call my tweeters lolno its not at all. glovebox out for the passenger side and release the fusebox on the drivers side and you can reach up to do it. if you have a poverty spec you can remove the vent blank to see what your doing
I managed to do this without taking the clocks off in my mk1 pov spec. It really grinds the top of your hands and your wrists up though if you aren't careful as the plastic edges in the vent slot are sharp!

mk2 dash speakers aint easy to get out and after market ones even more difficult to get in, but i managed to get some alpine 10cm ones in there fine just removed the side vents and jammed my forearms in there lol, lots of swearing and cuts later they were swapped!!
Mk2 ones remove easily. Too easily in fact... just twist them and they'll fall out lol

Nope, standard speakers are 4" round.
