yeah i get like that sometimes then you sit and think why do i bother lol
i just have a look on here and gets you in the mood again :)
But surely having one of the nicest and most respected Novas on the scene must distract you away from that fact. (Without wanting to sound like a big bum licker)

We all have days like that. Its part of the fun. I've been "building" mine for nearly 5 sodding years!!!
EDIT: just read Graemes post and remembered...you have one of my all time favourite Novas. Stick at it.
I know the feeling, although mine is still a bare shell and everyone who see's it thinks im a total idiot
/\/\ I know that feeling very well /\/\
Unfortunately dude all cars be it a nova or a ferrari are money pits, you will never get back the ££ that you put into them at least not in cash format anyways, you will however get it back in smiles laughs and general enjoyment, we all have times when things seem to go from bad to worse and things keep breaking on them but once you get behind the wheel again and take it for a blast you will soon be smiling again.
Granted thats going to be fairly hard if youre mid project and youre waiting for it to be finished before you can take it for that blast but if you give up and sell on you will have wasted more time effort and money than you will having waited till it were finished and had a chance to enjoy the results!
Hope that makes sense as it did to me at first lol

I know the feeling man. Especially when you are piling money into it and its just sitting there. Everytime i do something, i notice something else and end up spending more and more!Im totally fed up and bored of my nova now. Havent touched it in about a month.
I sometimes lose all motivation in it, especially when i get the comments from certain folk telling me it will never see the road etc

yep they are money pits hence selling up with mine to fund a new kit car. having said that ive already spent £150 from the light blue loon money on the dark blue one lol
I agree with what everyone has said.
Mine is still not finished, but meh its getting nearer.
Novas have given me plenty of laughs over the years. Even when there breaking down and sat in bits lol

I'm sick of mine at the minute. Since moving up to Newcastle I never have the opportunity to work on the car during the week which is annoying. Plus I've got all the expensive things left to do like buying new bucket seats, respraying and buying new wheels etc etc, some £4,000 I've forecasted.
Having said that I've spent too much time, effort and money on it to sell up so I'm determined to get it finished and enjoy it.

yes it is sole destroying. Got a few days off work this week, took the dash out to investigate a leak and found some scary horrors.
Nasty repairs the previous owner had bodged for the mot. Fetch me the welder!
Bodge repairs from previous owners really piss me off, my battery tray was non existant but covered in bathroom flooring and the hole in the boot floor was fibreglassed and fillered as was the hole in inner rear arch!

I thought you were a tree surgeon? You can't of sapped all the money from all the trees yet. lol

Not really, some cars you can run for free(bar fuel costs), and then sell on for the same price you paid for it..
Its only a money pit if you let it become one/its a project

This is true, I drive a £300 S plate Corsa 1.0 12v. Within 1 week of owning it I earnt double that back. If anything breaks, its replaced with scrap yard items.
However, the project Nova owes me about £9 to £10k if I include the parts from my old shell that went on the current. Although, an easy way to keep project costs down is eBay every last nut & bolt thats removed when you upgrade/replace parts :thumb: so, the current project Nova realistically owes me about £4k.
Its a modified car sadly and they are money pits, the problem I had with building them is you are always fighting a losing battle and that is that they don't handle very well lol
You could spend 10k on a nova shell and it might be the best handling nova ever, the shell would still be worth a few grand no matter how good it looked and resale IMO is something you have to think about as I know eventually you have to change your car and getting back as much as you can is quite important, unless ofcourse you have money falling out of your ar*e then you have less reason for it to bother you.

Exactly....
Bar fuel cost, my astra so far stands me in at nothing(bar the original £200 cost lol ) lol
my old one was a deep pit then once it was build i sold it   lol
Recent spendage on my car, New dizzy cap new rotor arm, Just got a whole new distributor ht leads and coil.
Yet to buy, New wings, two new doors, alloys, full respray.
Full engine rebuild on a X16XEL (Long story behind the gay engine)
So yes, Mine is also a bit of a money pit but oh so worth it, Nothing i have driven compares to a Nova and i have driven some decent everyday cars.
yes i know what you all mean, mine has every penny i can put on to it,but when i get to drive it the smile on my face :D and i never want to get out of it. so it is so worth the time/effort and every bit of MONEY ive put into it.. and it still isnt finished..:D:D:D
Mines a total money pit and I don't even enjoy driving it much, not that I ever get chance to really.
Had Nova's for 10 years now and I finally think i'm growing out of them a bit, just bought a mk1 MR2, all the Nova rust problems but at least its right wheel drive.
