Hi

(yes i have done a search on 'crank' far too many threads) :p

basically, will a crank from a spi engine fit into a mpi engine?

i suspect it does but before i spend money getting the crank reground/new shells & bearings i thought it would be best to check first ;)

cheers

I would think it fits, but be carefull, the SPI has a different compresion to the MPI (SPI = NZ MPI = SE) im not sure if the cranks have different strokes.

hence my question ;) :thumb:

Got a Haynes? Pretty certain it will tell you in there.

I'm 90% sure they have same diameter pistons hence the same stroke, the difference in compression ratios would be mainly due to piston crown and the combustion chamber.

Not sure if there would be any other compatibility issues i.e. crank pulley

c14se (1.4mpi corsa engine) has a stroke of 73.4mm

The cr difference comes from the pistons.
Crank should be the same

I'm sure the last time I had access to EPC the part numbers for the cranks was the same on spi and mpi 1400's, the compression ratio difference is definately made on the piston crowns and combustion chambers.
