Right!

MAME - absolutely amazing! :D

Just updated to the latest one v 0.63 but all the rom sites have vanished coz of the copyruight holders of now dead games unhappy coz some people are trying to keep their (now dead) games alive and have shut down most sites.

Whats everyones thoughts on MAME and other emulators

IMO theyre excellent - especially if like me you grew up when Space Invaders was about and other classics. Not to mention the old Atari 2600, speccy, Commodore 64, 128, Amiga etc...

Keep them alive!

LMFAO. I think the opposite. I think a forum is needed for all these young whipper snappers to talk about Britney and Christina and all the other b******s that they go on about :P

I must admit, as good as the old original games are, I prefer modern technology. A guy at work uses an emulator to run Spectrum, Atari and NES games to name a few on his pc. I prefer lovely 3D graphics these days. However some of the all time classics will never be forgotten

did anyone ever manage to get Bleem! or UltraHLE(think that was the name) to work properly. Bleem would run one or 2 playstation games ok, but not many and the N64 one ran Mariokart, but it never got the sound right or the colours!!
I did just give up with them in the end, so I dont know if better working versions came out or not.

lol! I dug out my old commadore amiga the other day - playing mortal combat and outrun. classic

Had trhis game by DMA designs called walker - absolutely awsome! Graphics were amazing but it only lasted 3 levels - hard as fuck mind! U controlled this 2 legged AT AT type think and had to shoot the sh1te out of little men and planes - stunning sound effects for the time!

Anyone know any decent sites where you can get roms from for MAME? cannae find any anywhere - everytime I try and search keep getting linked do really dodgy porn!!! lol!

ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz ....eh what? :o

Somone just type in the key word "old"?

lol i can outdo everyone in the " do you remember?" forum (if only I could remember what it was i was sposed to be remembering)

Right the first err "gizmo" I ever got my hands on was a calculator in 1972. It was shite and cost ?15 which was a fecking lot in those days (20 king sized B&H fags were about 25p lol) but at least I could chuck my slide rule and tables away.
The first games I played were car driving games and later Space Invaders installed in the pubs as beer tables.

Next time I had much to do with em it was the new consul games of Sega MS and Nintendo NES. Me and Ben (when he was about 10 or summink) spent the whole of the Xmas hols trying to crack Alex Kidd which we did with no cheats lol! Ahh them were the days

Alex Kid with his HUGE punching fist

Them space invader tables were ace. wasn't old enough to use them as a beer table though

PM me yer address!

Gotta get me one of the x arcade joysticks.

one day I WILL build an arcade box and put a pc in it just for the hell of it. Wanna get me hands on an outrun arcade machine but theyre going for daft cash now. Best 3d car game ever (most memorable on in my opinion!)

Nah, Sega Rally was one of the best 3D car racing arcade games. The cars handled so well round the track, you could tail slide so nicely :)

My first experience of a car game was a Lotus Esprit game on the Atari ST. I remember playing Roland on the Ropes at my cousins house on his spectrum though. It had horrible scratchy sound affects. I think they had one sound and changed the pitch for different stuff throughout the game, LOL.

DYNAMITE DAN! now that was a mad game with scratchy sound effects of the speccy!

I used to have a Dragon 32 - made in Wales and powered by microsoft basic. Actually a realy good machine but limited in colours - had the best version of Donkey Kong of all the 8bit machines of its day!

I'm gonna spend all day playing Ghouls and Ghosts!

We had a Dragon 32, we had a wireframe maze game on it. I barely remember teh thing though as I was probably about 3 or 4 or something!! I think the next machine we got after that was an Acorn electron, there was a game called Citadel on it, I can remember playing that for hours!!

hmm i had a spectrum, pirating the games was as easy as putting a tape in and pressing record LOL

the Dizzy games were the best, magic land and treasure island dizzy

over a decade on i can still remember a lot of magic land dizzy, there was a bridge with a troll on, if you try to cross the troll twats you and you go flying. solution? go and find a knife, then cut the rope that is tying up a goat to the other end of bridge which goes and buts the troll off LOL
