would a 1300 blydenstein worked big valve head work well with a gsi bottom end?

or would i be better with a standard gsi head that has has been ported/polished, ect ect..

no it won't work mate, i have tried it. the 1300 head has a combustion chamber of i think 18cc and the 1600 is 22cc. so it won't start or turn over propely, let alone run. stick with a 1600se head.

You should work out the CR. I think it would be OK, dont forget there is a lot of volume from the volume of the headgasket area and the pistons are dished too. it will depend on how much your head has been skimmed as well.

the 1.3 has the same chamber volumn i think as the 1.2. if you fit a 1.6 head to a 1.2 you get a ratio of 8:1, so the other way you'll end up with about 11:1
