Its £105 to retain for 1 yr, £130 for 2 and £155 for 3, (basically £80 transfer fee and £25 per year to keep it on retention)

and you need to complete this form : http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/PersonalisedRegAndNumberPlates/DG_4022575?IdcService=GET_FILE&dID=178701&Rendition=Web

Bingo. Then hooky MOT, tax and insure it, swap the plate onto a legal car (or retention) cash in tax and cancel insurance lol.

AFAIK you can swap plates off cars if they're out of T&T by no more than 6 months but I think it's up to the DVLA.

Doing the above can be a little risky as the dvla can ask to see the car if it has been off the road for a few years

Yeah ^ I know when I tried to remove my plate as the car had at the time been SORNed for 4 years they said they would need to see it fully roadworthy at the 'testing station' which I assume meant the VIC place.

I tried to add my private plate, change the colour, change the engine size and number on my saloon and they also asked to see it, I also have a friend who has been breaking minis for thirty years and gave me a log book off an old one so I could have black plates and they also asked to see it

Certain ones aren't allowed to leave the vehicle, as people were buying and scrapping old vehicles in order to acquire dateless plates on the cheap. So that has screwed things up a bit TBH. Probs true about retaining standard ones too, bet you have to buy it from them first. :S

Rednova, Manta should be more concerned with getting his Corsa on the road! lol - I assume you mean the same lad, although I didn't know he was on here.
