My nova

Hello im in the middle of saving for my convertion to a c20xe ive only just finished gathering all the parts as well. its an F reg 1.3L mk1 with 36000 on the clock. i went up to the garage before to start cleaning under the bonnet and found rust patchs on both sides of the inner wings behind the head lights. i wanted to see how bad the patches where so i got the back of a paint brush and started to tap away next thing holes started appearing :cry: not good at all !!!!! its got two plates in the boot and one on the drivers side inner wing. i think im goin to wash my hands with it now after it was converted then the plan was to take it the body shop and get it painted with two new rear arches but i dont think its worth messing with now. i would think its goin to be a big job changing the inner wings ???? anyway any advice would be appreciated :thumb: heres a few pics of how it stands at the min

and i'm disapointed. you said some pics, i only see one. and with the welding, theres probably been worse cars rebuilt on here, get some pics up of the damage and let the "experts" cast their vote.

Don't fear the rust, chop it out, buy yourself a mig welder and get it fixed

Just plate it up man. When the legs start to go we will have (some) sympathy! lol Get some pics up mate. I've saved some rusty sh1tters (not all Novas) never say never.

Post some pics up of the rust. As said, its easier to plate as IIRC inner wings cost a small fortune. Have a look at the welding i had to do on my WIP thread.

Exactly how I feel now dude! The first rusty car I had ever owned was my 14 SR and when I noticed that the headlamp bowls and crossmember resembled soggy cardboard I was wounded, but repaired it then got the XR2 and since then I think it has hardened me. lol

im only being fussy because i want to put a c20xe in it so the plan was to find a clean base and. the guy i bought it from claimed it was the clean'est round as he'd took the time to fix and get painted all the problems anyway ive found a mk2 which im going to look at tomorrow and if all goes well ill get it but im not sure what the future holds for this as im not going to scrap it.
