You get bored and want a change, you find its not going where you want it to, are unhappy about bits. Loads of people most their cars then sell then just after.

alot of people also enjoy building them and can get more back in parts when a project is finished than selling the complete project

Rick built the car to how he wanted it, with HIS money, so wheres the problem?
When building a 500hp Let, you will get problems with parts not being up to standard, hence the engine issues.
The last time i looked, the corsa shell was having some insane cage fitted! Dont see where the "still failing" is in that......
Oh, and i have the single wiper arm off his nova lol lol

When building a 500hp Let, you will get problems with parts not being up to standard, hence the engine issues.

So? He still built it and was happy to. So why not? It got a feature, which gave him something to look back and and say, yep i built that.
Spec and changes and rebuilds are all part of building a great car.
A 500brake let will never been 100% relieable. Simple as that.

None of the photo's work anyway as Rick used to delete them after everyone had seen them once. Its just a journal of back slapping & not a lot of hardcore spec or anything. Much better build threads to be found on the net IMO.

Exactly! I think he is a legend for biteing the bullet! Think people need to leave off a bit tbh :wtf:
One thing people forget is that alot of builds have problems, many are kept quiet where as rick didnt care about that and was completely open and let people join in the joys and miseries of what he acheived along his journey.
I cant help but take my hat off to the homo for sticking with it and doing it his way regardless of general comments, as it was what he wanted and seen it through as far as was possible. Many would of given up long before.
lessons were learnt and fun was had during it which if nothing else gave him a greater wealth of knowledge in doing what he enjoyed.
Right i'm off to watch a film, 6 mile, or something ;)

thats what i think!! if the guy wants to do it there is a point to it!! if i had enough money id be wanting to build the biggest brake horse let i can just depends on what people want!!

Yep i agree there are far better projects online. Like the one where someone fitted some bodgered rear turrets and welded them in to high, or the one where someone has a shell thats apparently mint but has hardly any chassis legs left at the back!
It was my car built how i wanted it and it just seems there are a lot of jealous people out there...

Welcome to the world of modifying rob, whats the point building a car that someone could have exactly the same,
he wanted it for a one off,
cant see the problem, his money, his time,
it would be good if more people could be as adverturous as him, instead of jus slapping a let in, or stuff thats tried and tested, he was experimenting to reach his goal of 500bhp,
me personally, have never seen a pic of it until 10 seconds ago, and i think its a mint car, been built to a very high standard,

Nah was a shame to rip it all apart to be honest, think rick enjoyed that part more than me to be honest :eek:
I had one complaint - it never had the boot handle on in most pics lol
I agree with the majority though, push the boundaries and it's going to be anything but perfect the first time and that's understandable. Fair play for having a go mate and I'm sure the engine will be happy in it's new shell.

In all fairness, the car was spot on in the flesh, and like a select few, some prefere the build stage rather than the end result.
I think in many cases the 'haters' maybe just abit jelous they dont have the cash to build a car to this level as a hobby?.
I really cant see whats so bad about it, looks the mutts nuts apart from the fmic that would swallow small children and animals.

Has got to be one of the best looking and highest spec Nova's, just a shame it was broke so early without been properly run so we could all see it out and about for a few years.

lol, this thread is cracking. each to there own imo, the nova is not my cup of tea but he has spent time and effort making it, even if he did spend quater of a million pounds! it was a one-off car and i respect the work that went into it.
imo it doesnt matter if you spend £10 or £10,000 if you are happy with the way your car is, thats all that counts!
