I was looking at buying one of those instead of a hairdryer when I was 16. Parents offered me a Nova though to stop me from buying a bike, I believed it was a fair bribe

well done dave. looks very clean!

i have a bike very simlar on the road just now..

its a yamaha dt50.

it only done 28mph when i got, engine was very worn so that was an excuse to tune it..

I put a 70cc big bore kit, stainless race exhaust, bigger carb, k&n style air filter, ported the head, ported the downpipe, new spark plug ect..

then it done 38mph but it was getting there very fast for a 50 and at top speed it was revving the nuts off the poor wee engine..

so then that meant time to play with the gearing, i went into the local motorbike shop and asked for a bigger front sprocket, they laughed at me and said a 70cc will just die with a big sprocket on it..

i was sure it would help so ordered one anyway. i went 3 teeth bigger, which took me to 54mph and still pulled up through the gears well..

so after a week i was bored of that and went for the biggest sprocket i could buy for it, another 2 teeth bigger. i am now getting about 65mph depending on surface. if it is a nice flat road it sits fine at 65mph but come to a hill i am down to about 50mph..

now some of you may laugh at me and say what is the point in tuning a 50, well i see your point but for me sitting at 28mph was very boring and took ages to get places..

i will post some pics of my bike up later..

Nice little bike, go easy on it and maybe a couple of lessons beofre you hit the open road. If you do anything to it keep it original/standard, this type of bike it on the up value wise, good investment and fun !!!!!!!!

I had a sizuki ts 50 when i was 16. it has an 80cc big bore kit on ir and would do 60mph on the flat. It would rev to about 14K revs!
