Help!!!

Guys, I'm having trouble with the gear linkage on my XE'd Nova. I have spent hours trying to adjust the pinch bolt adjustment on the main linkage to get all gears. I can only get reverse really nice & fifth badly by pushing down the gear lever when selecting or vice versa. There is no nice in between balance where reverse & fifth select nice. Its also a bit hit & miss in other gears although they do select ok sometimes. My mechanic has mentioned trying stiffer engine moments to reduce engine block movement whilst driving but Ive heard horror stories of the chassis rails cracking etc if the mounts are to stiff. The engine bay has been strengthed & seem welded. Finally there is some knocking whilst cornering hard and applying power - Is this normal for a Valver set up?

Any hints / tips would be greatly appreciated. If I get it sorted I plan to attend alot of the shows & PNG days this year.

Thank you...

Here you go :thumb:
If this dosen't work, use the search function and search for posts with linkage in them in the mechanical section. You may find other ways.

stick a 5.5mm? drill bit in the box (as shown by haynes manual) , slide the linkage over so that it goes in firther and locks the gear selctor, get a mate to hold the stick by the reverse canal then do the bolt up.

have you turned round the bush on the selector?

knocking could be ball joint or top mounts if standard top mounts

Have you taken the lug off of the gearbox?
