so my knocking noise while im driving is getting rather bad now, ive changed my top mounts to no avail,

just jacked my car up and started grabbing anything and everything to see if there was any play, the only 'play' i could find was in the track rods?!

i mean the two rods that go from the center of the hub to the middle of the car, one side has a longer one than the other (drivers side) and if i grab them there is probably 2-3mm of play,

could this be my problem!! thanks for the help!

if they go into the gearbox you mean the drive shafts..

balljoints are bolted to the lower suspension arm and bolt into the bottom of the hub. Bushes are the rubber bits in the suspension arms and track control arms

i say it sounds like a cv joint i had that problem and took me ages to find out what it was, as was grabbing everything possible and couldnt find any play. borrowed a mates drive shaft to cheack and turned out that it was a cv joint.
