Bit of a random question but can you put towbars on novas? specifically a type to fit one of those to? (http://www.autowbars.co.uk/rack%20on%20car%20autowbars.jpg)

If so can anyone point me in the right direction?

Cheers.

and if my last nova was anything to go by, the moment it starts towing, it finds the weak point (ie the rust) and half your car falls off lol

I would put serious thought to actually getting a crosser trailer, cos the old bill will want to pull you if the 4rse end is dragging on the road with a 'field bike' on the back, but then you could get some spring assistors

when did you get your licence???

most people after 1997 can only tow a trailer of 750kg or 85% of the weight of the towing vehicle..

Hold on, this (http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/DriverLicensing/CaravansTrailersCommercialVehicles/DG_10013073) says you can tow a trailer so long as it isn't heavier than the unladen weight of the towing car and over 3.5t, so am i reading this right or talking bollocks? or is this pre '97?

burgo, the idea of the assistors is to keep the 4rse end in the air with the bike on the rack not on a trailer.

but I agree totally with the loading the trailer properly comment. I have to regularly mend our plant trailers when some numbskull has stuck a 3t digger on the nose of one & dragged it round the midlands.

one of our blokes stuck a 1200mm twin drum road roller on the back of a trailer because he couldn't be bothered to shift a stack of hand tools & came home in an L200 truck in 4wd complaining that the rear axle must be broken because he was in third gear & it wasn't actually moving..... when I pointed out that the rear wheels weren't touching the ground & he was going to get a written warning, he got all mardy

Waay to heavy for tow-bar mounted rack. 50kg is the maximum downward weight you can legally have on the tow ball on a nova.

I used to tow a motorcross bike with my 1.4 nova, it was brill went everywhere, your best option is for a normal tow bar and bike trailer. as it would be too much strain on the rear end.

**Free plug ** I Have a tow bar for a hatchback with electrical connection for £20 if you want one.
