Probably some of you are feeling quite happy that I've lost my job, not in a horrible way i might add... But due to me being abroad so much in sunnier places working with 730+hp million pound cars everyday lol

Japs a tools... I had a meeting on friday where I got told i was the "best" of the new engineers, but in barcelona when working with Mclaren, I was "leaning" too much in the garage... and it presented a bad image of the company... I had been on my feet for 14hours a day for a week and we weren't allowed chairs, what do they expect. So, I was 1 of 2 made redundant... I even have to hand back all my kit.

Anyway... Job search started today, and due tot he environment I work in, I'm pretty screwed lol Found a couple of jobs abroad in China and Canada which seemed pretty interesting.

How's others finding job hunting in these dark times?

I've been hunting for months :( I'm supposed to be relocating in April but it looks like I'll be putting it back (...again). At least I still have my current (****) job though.

Sorry to hear about you losing your job, best wishes finding something suitable :thumb:

Ahh mate that's harsh! I rmember back when you got this job too.

WTF no chairs and 14 hours on your feet and they expect you to be on tip toes? I had a job which required me to be on my feet for 9 hours and that was a pain, very literally.

Just after commenting on a thread literally seconds ago another unemployed fellow PNG'er.

I think my suggestion of unemployment section in the forum may need to be done.

yeh, would have been nice to have gone to atleast one race though... All the guys are off to Australia in the morning :( Still it was good while it lasted and everything has to come to an end at some point.

If you've worked for japs, you'd understand that this is common practise, not to say sod all for the week and then use it against me lol They have a Merc AMG sitting in the warehouse gathering dust that they pay £3k a months to loan... Which was 2 of our monthly salaries. The car did 1k miles a year...

Have been thinking about going back to uni, but when you weigh up the costs and debt for 3 years... If i was out of work for a year and worked for 2 i'd be better off... Plus i can't get a job atm with 1 degree and some experience so what another degree would do i don't know...

It's only day1, so luckily the parent shaven't got to the nagging stage, give it 3months like last time and it'll kick in :(

Cheers for the positive wishes...

You become more and more hated...

What you getting into now then? I'm not too fussed what I go into, I just like working within Motorsport. Although I really enjoyed it at JLR and Aston, it just wasn't the same as working in F1 :(

Defense :D same "principles" as ECU's and engine control, just **** gets blown up deliberately at the end

I loved working with OEM's and personally would loathe the F1 game as I like to work a fixed week and get more than minimum wage lol

I'm loving the addition of "deliberately" in that sentence.

Surely there's some H&S at work regulations that say you can't stand on your feet for 14 hours with no chair? They certainly should have given you some form of breaks at least.

Sue for unfair dismissal :D
