I have mk2, but would much rather have a Mk1 SR front end.

Can someone explain to me the bumper situation? IIRC the irons are different or something, and one ends up further out that the other or something.

Cheers

Matt

I know that, what about bumpers, heard the irons are different or something, and one sticks out further off the body than the other model, cant remember which way round it is though.

why dont you just buy a mk 1 instead save your self the hassle od swapping bumpers , wings , lights etc lol

Il give you a proper answer!

The L shape brackets on the mk2 are longer. The side brackets are also different but you would be changing the wings anyways.

 why do you want manualy adjustable/square ill fitting lights (the list goes on) on a mk2? i can understand your idea!.. though i would just find a tatty/fairly tidy mk1 and restore it? clean mk1 novas look the buisness imo!..... :thumb:

when i tried to use a mk1 bumper bar on a mk2 bumper it didnt line up with the angled brackets on the car.

Maybe he dosnt have the cash for a whole mk1. Or his mk2 shell is in preety good nick, or has spent a lot of money on it!

Kind of....dont really have the space to get another Nova just to have a propper mk1. I want an SR front end, whats the big problem people. I actually think mk2's look like washing machines (without GSI bumper), and a tidy mk1 looks the bollox.

Plus if I DID have the space for yet another car in this house, it wouldn't be another Nova, just for it to sit there and rot.

as said, the L brakcets are longer on mk2. ul obviosuly need mk1 wings, lights and grill. you will also have to bodge the wiring for the lights abit to fit iirc.

and yes im sure he can buy a mk1, but you may aswell just change your mk2 to mk1 as its so easy to do and wont cost that much.

Well my car is just Mk2 (Sept 90) and I've noticed a few odities, so might be able to do it :D

Novabikecarbed : Just updated the WIP

If I nick the plug from the mk1 lights, and just rewire the lights, should work? Or is it more than just a different plug?
