Really good read this month:)
was really good to see what numbers they got back from the dvla,for each nova,In the 'Endangered list'.
The numbers they got back were
1.3 sport-19
1.3SR-515
1.4SR-577
SRI-330
GTE-399
GSI-392
still,for each model,there could be alot that are sorn,which there probably is:)
Anybody shocked by these figures;)

331 SRi's. Mine is SORN. Still. Been 5 years i think lol
well ive got a gte and 1.4 sr so that adds to them
i thought there would be more gsi s then sr s

I would say its aload of rubbish only 19 sports left, im sure theres more on the list on here.
aye there was 16 at billijg a few years ago, and ive heard of 5 restos since then.... plus the ones still rallying.

my 1.4 sr is sorn so add one to the list
I thought that too, but then how many will be OTR? Would have thought most, inc the current restorations, will be SORN...
Question is, how many saloons are left? :D

Nope, consider that the SR was available for longer compared to the GSi - ~9 years (84?-93) for the SR, only 3 (90-93)for the GSi.

i read this as well, shockingly low amout of gsi's?
how many were produced?
Also noted only 83 astra gte mk1's. My mates bought an ex max power staff car a couple of years ago for 50 quid. Always wanted to buy it of them, but as is always the way too many projects!

yeah the numbers are low for the gsi :(
Thought there would be alot less 1.3SR's aswell:)

DVLA think my GTE is unlicensed which is slightly worrying as it should be SORN. It will be crusher bound very shortly though so doesn't make any difference to the numbers.

331 SRi's. Mine is SORN. Still. Been 5 years i think lol
Make that 332 SRi's. But mine has only been 2 yearslol
I thought there would have been a lot more 1.4 SR's - there isn't that many more of them compared to the SRi's which were only made for 2 years.
My 2 GSi's won't be on that list either because they are both on SORN at the minute, and the black one is heading to Cork, so it will be off the DVLA radar totally then.

Lets face it at the time the report was done (winter) Most older vauxhalls are sorned and stored away while the weathers ****e.So all in all the figures are very wrong and a waste of ink imo

i kinda miss owning a 'badged' nova.. had a gsi few years ago but felt the gsi badge stopped me doing what i wanted to do to a nova (stripped out, flocking, transplants etc) - ruining one basically..
So i sold it and got a base model to throw my ideas at; bet the gizzy's been prob broken for parts since lol

i agree with you mate, a know of a few novas sorned and wraped up for winter. they should do a check in the middle of summer to see the differance..:D:D

Hi there,
The data was drawn in May 2008 and is the most recent available. 'Live' data, especially for such a large number of cars isn't possible to attain, as the DVLA have other stuff to do.
The SMMT (Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders) info or 'parc data' comes from the DVLA database direct: 2009 figures will be available to us this summer, as we'll follow it up later this year. The SMMT produce a book each year called 'Motor Industry Facts' which outlines huge amount of information. Everything from the numbers of each colour of car on the road, to fuel type, to total numbers of cars on the road are extracted from the same report we got our Vauxhall data from.
There was no point in including SORN cars, as many will be broken or off road long term. If there's a few minters sat in garages when the SMMT extract their data from the DVLA, there's not much we can really do about it.
In terms of Nova Sports, if you read the article, you'd have noticed that we didn't claim it as a definitive figure, only that there were 19 cars listed under 1.3 base - all of which must be Sports as there was never a 1.3 base made generally available.
Furthermore:
When we run another feature once the 09 data is available to us, it can contain more detailed information based on what readers want us to find out. If anyone has any specific requests, we'll see what we can find out.
Those numbers would be considerably more if it wasnt for people like Colin Smith & myself lol lol
I want to know how many China Blue Vauxhalls there are :) can you find that out or would it just say 'Blue'?

There used to be a min red GSi parked up in my local train station car park most mornings - then it stopped coming...

any chance of telling how many mik1 cavs are left, in the 3 different body styles? ive heard seriously low numbers.....
