novavan what to do to it???

just got myself a little white nova van, its nice and solid where it counts and only a little rust on a wing and a door which i have spares of.

so its only a diesel to runabout in but im gonna get it painted white again and im thinking of stickering it up like a sport or maybe try some of that old skool retro stuff nice n low with a rusty bonnet or something:confused:

any ideas anyone? im not spending a fortune on it just simple stuff oh and ive got a 1.7td lump handy lol:thumb:

Rat look = Shat look, IMO.

Clean it up, drop it and some rims. 1.7td lump would be a giggle i would imagine.

ive got a brand new one piece front grill/bumper like the sport had so im thinking of making it mk1 also got the headlight and indicators etc.

engine is a doddle to do i reckon so just drop it nice n low and stick some nice rims on.

Rat look is such a fad. leave it to the 'dub gyppos'.

I say switch to a TD powerplant, put an intercooler on it & find some dished euro wheels to satisfy your styling fetish. It could look good with a roofbox (instead of a t(w)atty roof rack. Old skool mk1 bumpers etc . NICE!

If youve got a derv van id definently get a 1.7td motor in there, the donor car is like group9(less than gte/gsi nova), and a 1.7 motor with the boost and fuelling turned up would DESTROY a 1.6 8v engine. (and be cheaper to run/insure)
Ive got one in my astra and im quite impressed how much difference a few mods make, and it still does about 50mpg :thumb:

I personally like the Rat look if done right, most dont like it but then again most like Football and I dont. I say as its a Van and they're pretty rare, do it up nicely and dont Euro style stretch the arches out of it.

my van is also white, did you fit the full 17td engine ?
i was told to just use the bottom end from 1.7 and use everything else from the 1.5???

Right, a white Van. I say simply fit a set og white Compomotives and clean, polish, buff, wax, claybar, bumper Gel etc the life out of it and keep it standard, well lowering it 60mm may help also.

yes mate we fitted the full engine but you have to use the 1.5 engine mount, timing belt cover and also we used the 1500 flywheel, clutch and gearbox its not hard to do really but its well worth it.

swap full engine over keeping original alt gearbox clutch fly and use the n/a inlet plumb in a frontera intercooler and if i can find one a 3.1 trooper turbo.

I cant see the fascination with them, I had one, they have terrible blind spots, they rattle more then there car counterpart, there leathal in the wet becuase the rear is so light when empty.
