hallo all of you
is the 1,4 16v head the same as the one on a 1,6 16v engine

no the 1.4 is more restrictive than the 1.6

I think the x14xe and x16xe heads are the same. Its the c16xe head which has better ports.

nope, the 14head is more restrictive again, it was designed to increase air speed through the ports and increase low down torque apparently

Dicko, they are the same as I had one in my garage stamped up for both, also EPC says the heads have the same GM part number

its funny how mr bill reckons they enlarge the ports on the x14xe to the size of the x16xe to gain approx 3bhp alone!!!!!
Also SBD say they are diff!!

X14XE and X16XE may well be different, though there are several types of 1.4 and 1.6 16V engines. This is what we found on EPC for the head I had in the garage.

X14XE
1 HEAD,ASSY.,CYLINDER,LESS 1 90486979
VALVES
90486979

X16XEL
1 HEAD,ASSY.,CYLINDER,LESS 1 90486979
VALVES
90486979

Quite what the difference is between a 1.6 XE and XEL I don't know, larger valves in the XE perhaps :D
