some of you probably know i work at safeways

well my missus works there too.

went to pick her up just - 9pm and as i appraoched the turning for the filter lane, i began to see a build up of trafic and some hazard lights flashing

turns out one of the closest guys i work with had turned onto the A45 (coventry road) main road into birmingham city centre, on turning onto the A45 he hit a TINY spot of black ice, car swerved looks like, hit a kerb, and rolled his car once or twice sideways, when i got there it was resting on its roof between the bonnet and top of windscreen.

and this was all under relatively low speed.

it makes me so lucky to feel that i managed to control my car when i hit a kerb at 45 - i hit an unlit chicane FFS with only three wheels - one on front (other shattered) managed to control it but seeing what he did i could have SO ended up on the roof.

needless to say im fooked up at the moment

after all the things hapening recently, on here or otherwise

PLEASE DRIVE CAREFULLY

thankyou

yeah i agree with you mike

it doesnt matter how good your driving is, somethings just can't be avoided.

in this weather especially, it just takes someone 2 walk out in front of u and there is nothing that you can do. id always prefer to crash my car than hit someone.

I know. Winter sucks.

Drove all winter last year, nothing ever happened. Drove home one night, started pulling up outside my house - it was literally rolling at a few mph! - applied the brakes to stop it/park up and it just slid sideways into the kerb!
Nothing bad, but it dented my brand new wheels!

Sorry to hear about your friend. Is he ok?

I suppose the only thing you can do is learn from what happened. Be extra careful and keep your eye out for other drivers that might not drive responsibly.

not taking offence by ur message jim - just saying for the others like he was driving sensbily - i mean pulling away from lights for god sake! not like speeding - like the copper said shit happens

well

our jim lad is ok

he has dmaged ligaments in shoulder and elbow, grazed arm bruised collor bone, forehead and jaw.

he maneged to shatter his STEERING wheel by nutting it (hes a big guy - plays rugby - not fat just built like jonah lomu!)

Hope he gets beta soon.

As some of you may have read I knocked bumpers with a learner the other day, The Nova did it's best to stop, Locking both front wheels. It's just so slippery.

Take it easy

Mike,

I didnt mean your mate was driving irresponsibly, I meant watch out for other road users. I've been cut up so many times in this bad weather. It's these people that dont adjust to the driving conditions that I worry about. I'm in no way saying your mate was speeding etc. Sorry for the mis-understanding.

had some old biddie almost crash in to me today, i was stopped in a line of traffic (at the back) when i saw this cavalier come screaming into the rear view mirror. she realized about 10ft away from me and turned left, she locked up under the ice and managed to just avoid me by pulling in to the bus stop next to me. feckin crapped me pants lol. she litteratly scraped me rear bumper but didnt look at all arsed and just drove on like nothing happened (75yrs plus lol)

i reckon retest at 50 is the way to go lol

(sorry bout spleeing im a bit pised lol)

(sorry bout spleeing im a bit pised lol)

Ironically spelling is about the only word you mis-spelt, LOL. You're forgiven Dave ;)

Me and Will arrived back at my house this evening, as we pulled onto the pavement, there was a cyclist coming from our right, he saw us and tried brakeing, but instead slid his back end out and nearly went flying over the handlebars, LOL. We wouldn't have hit him as we stopped before where he was crossing, but he s**t himself. He also had no bike lights on, IDIOT!
