Hi everyone,

I don't know if this is a repost or not but, anyway:

I saw a set of this Alloy Top Mounts on ebay and, as i'm planning to increase handling on my Nova, i'm thinking of adding these babies. At this time, my suspension setup is the following:

- -4cm Cobra springs
- Shocks reworked in accordance with the springs
- Front and rear upper strut bars
- Front lower strut bar
- Front and rear SR arb's
- Powerflex front and rear polybushes

To all answers given, thanks

Hi

What type are they? Adjustable like below or fixed?
To be honest cant think of anything against uprating to alloy top mounts.

Go for it!!

Yeah, they're like these ones.

what reasons you have for "go fo it"? (may look a stupid question but, i want to know all about these before i put it :) )

AFAIK the ONLY advantage is the camber correction (lowering a car makes the camber bugger up)

Also going to have less flex than the standard rubber mounts, allow the car to sit lower with more suspension travel. Camber correction...

Thanks for all answers.

Any more opinions?

They last a damn sight longer the OE rubber top mounts.

Pros:
Can lower the car more(on coilovers)
More positive handling as no sloppy rubber mountings
Can adjust camber/castor

Against:
Nothing much, on mine though you could feel that they were "harder", as the front end felt stiffer when hitting bumps etc. Not really an issue though.

If their like my Compbrake ones you'll need to get them machined to fit, or enlarge the hole in the top of your turret!!

I never had this problem with mine. just fitted them and they work fine. no adjustments to be made

Depends how much you want to adjust them.
My compbrake ones fitted fine with no mods.

If you are on standard shocks and not 2 1/4" coilovers don't think you can run eccentric ones as you won't have room in the turret for adjustability?

For the moment i'm running "standard like" shocks (standard shocks with increased charge inside)

make sure they are fitted correctly as it seems alot of people dont do which is pretty dangerous tbh..

Compbrake are useless lol. service was utter bollox he didnt know what he was talking about when i spoke to the chap on the phone about my top mounts not fitting.

got my other ones from ebay cheaper and they were much better.

Thats £39 per side, and with postage its not far off £100!!

I have the compbrake ones, they fitted fine with no mods, however I have had them machined so as I can get more castor and camber.

Agree with most pros and cons above, with the addition of 2 cons, not only hard ride but road noise is increased, and with mine is they make it hard to reach the adjuster bolts on the top of my Spax RSX's.

compbrake is a reformed tas i believe.

and allwyas make sure the circlip faces down as mike as stated. really bugs me when people think they go the other way.

seriously putting your lives in danger using the top mounts with the circlips facing up...

i have been thinking about these for some time, nova has only been used for track days for the past few years (last time it was used was august 2007) and last time driven was october 2007 as moved house etc but im looking to get it back ready for the track. Should I get these? Adjustable or not?
Car is 3dr hatch nova, spax rsx coilovers with 300lb springs im sure i put in, c20let with f28 and atb diff, polly bushed front end. I have always wondered about the standard top mounts but never changed them. Not bothered about extra noise/vibration.
Any advice as to what mount to go for would be great, noticed someone said it made adjusting their spax rsx shocks difficult?
