Shell looks good dude! I may come have a nosey next weekend if you're about.

Turn the wire speed down a touch mate. You should be able to run it on 2 max in the engine bay, wire speed around 3ish.

djbrowney
14-05-09, 11:53 PM

I ended up around 3 I think and let it get quite hot before moving on. On the bulkhead I barely had to pulse it, just one bead of little swirls.

Good work on the welding dude :thumb:

What gas setting is it on? Tried turning that up? Don't know if it helps but I was told to spiral the weld as you move along as if your making circular links rather than putting the weld at the front of pool. This way it pushes it along. Again, I may be talking shoite! lol

Seam sealer is fine as long as you can apply it neat enough? You went the squeezy tube option yeah? Did you soak the tube in warm water 1st?

well im going to check the roller that feeds the wires is on the wright dept, did even realise you could change them round lol there no regulator on the gas so it either on/off

yes opted for the tube type fook messing about, going to get a tube this morning to do the inner arch or of that affect, didnt need to warm it the sun was shining in lynn lol

I got a tube from APEC the other week to do my rear arches (obviously not used it yet) and he advised giving a soak in warm water before hand and it goes on a lot easier.

djbrowney

Got all the welding finished on the front end today, put some seam sealer on the arches were i have repaired them to try an make them match with the wrest of the underseal, didnt come out to bad an im sure it will look fine with some stone chip an wax oil over the top. also managed to get a coat of etch primer to seal it, which is a bonus hopefully a complete rust free front end lol

before you fit them get a piece of straight flat wood (quite thick :thumb: )
put a piece of carpet over it then carefully tap the lip over with the flattest hammer you can find :thumb: take your time start at one end and dont fold it straight away go backwards and forward a few times until its flat :thumb: thats ho i do it and it seems to work fine lol
