Scrub the inner arches and get them properly clean. Then leave for a couple of days to let them dry out. Then just get some Hammerite and paint with a brush on top of the original underseal stuff. Usually takes at least to coats.

That's how I did mine...

did you take the front wings off to do it?

Nah, didn't bother for now. Just painted what I could get to with them still on as I couldn't be ar$ed to take the standard ariel and indicators etc out the wing to get them off. You can't even see up behind the wing once the cars back on it's wheels anyway. Up to you really, I'd probably of done it if it was just a 2 min job.

They do need to be bone dry so no moisture gets traped, the longer you can leave them to dry out the better.

Hammerite FTW. My car is covered in it!!! Well, the underside and arches!

i scubbed mine with a brush and then went over the inside of the arches with a rag soaked with thinners to get in to the awkward bits and then fired on some dark blue hammerite

Wouldnt this be the ideal time to re-new the underseal in the arches, at best its going to be 15 years old!

i tryed painting over mine in white after i undersealed them but the underseal just made the paint turn grey. it never dryed to a hard finish even tho i left it for a week!!

Agreed. It's surprising what it hides. Get the grinder out and buzz it all off then apply stone chip and paint over IMO.

Me too, its amazing that the sealer can hide, and traps water really well!
