my computer is being major ghey at the moment, i can click on say 'google' and it doesn't find the webpage, comes up with all the usual balls about 'you may have typed the address wrong', or 'the website maybe experiencing problems' etc etc

try another few sites, same thing happens.

try google again and it works.....but then other sites which worked a minute ago go off?

but by far the most annoying thing is people posting pictures in threads on here.....they show as red X's and i can't see them, but if i 'right click' on it and click 'show picture' it shows it straight away.....why the funk doesn't it do it in the first place

i've tried all the usual (swearing at it, threatening it), next up is a hammer!

help needed lol

wireless...computer in the loft, router thing in the bedroom....signal is always 'excellent' and never have a problem connecting.

havn't rang them yet but its been doing it for a few days so i'll probably give them an ear bashing at the weekend :thumb:

it is random though, and annoying, i was happily browsing png then it died. went straight over to facebook which worked fine, back to png.....still dead. straight to failblog (worked fine) then back to here, and now its working again?

may need to buy a bigger hammer :wtf:

Could be slow sites "timing out"

Download and run a program called winsockfix and see if that helps.

Could be a result of your ISP having DNS problems. Have they been doing any work on the lines in you're area? Has anyone else been digging the roads/paths up?

Of course the first port of call is to try resetting the router, simply turn it off for 10 mins and see if it improves when you turn it back on.

Mine does this occasionally

reset your dns and clear your cache.
Go to your connections highlight the the one you use and right click - should get a list showing bridge, properties etc. Click "repair". a bunch of messages will pop up saying refreshing dns, clearing cache etc and then it'll say OK.

Now disconnect your router (turn it off) and back on so it has to reboot.

Open your internet browser and clear your cache (I use firefox so its tools options cear privacy data). make sure you only tick the boxes you want erased - include cache in this.

Now close browser and open it again and see if that works.

If it doesnt try sequence again. if still no joy check your firewall/internet security incase its live updated and installed some newer levels blocking your pages/images - also check you dont have a pop up blocker set to high priority - I had that on my Bit Defender firewall and every time I opened firefox it shut it down thinking it was a pop up

well thanks for all the suggestions,.... it seems that mikeysr won with the typical helpdesk solution of 'turn it off then turn it on again'......

turned it off on friday at the wall, went away for the weekend and turned it on a few hours ago, spot on no problems, all sites can be accessed (even hardcore disabled animal porn sites :D :D )

all is well again :thumb:
