i have one, coming up a year old, will get some pics later. on building much larger vivarium for him a.t.m. and its pretty placid as far as it doesn't bite etc. but dont give them a chance to escape 'coz they run fast as f*ck, and they're escape artists lol. to start off you will need:ceramic heat lamp, some type of thermostat ( i have a posh digital one, switches u.v. light on at 10am and bumps the temperature up to 32 degrees, then off again at 10pm and drops the temperature down to 22) cost £100 for this and heater. a 5%uvb light, 3-4ft vivarium, preferably lined with paper substrate for first year as they can ingest sand when small and bark is unsuitable. i feed mine on a stable diet of crickets, mealworms and locusts are treat foods and have very little nutrition. feed crickets on a gut loading supplement or gel and dust with multivitamin (specialist reptile one, i use nutrobal) i tend to feed him as many as he will eat in 15 minutes and again later if he doesn't eat much. i also try to keep a constant supply of leafy veg (spinach etc.) if you need any help or advice just ask, be happy to help

Thanks riggy and Alan :thumb: I didn't return to this thread after 'slothsport1' (erm... nice name BTW) decided to ruin it.

Trying to talk Dougie round, I think I'm much more likely to be allowd a dragon than a snake.

Can you get some photos of your viv please? I need inspiration :)

My dad opened a reptile shop but unfortunately he sold it just before Christmas so I've had millions of them. you couldn't get a softer pet.
alanhughes87 set up is perfect for them except i would advise on having a stronger u.v we used the exo terra 8%. It is good to have a varied died for them i wouldn't advise on meal worm so much because if they don't crush their heads properly they are capable of eating their way out of your beardie.vegetables are good for them but don't feed them things what are too wet like iceberg lettuce because it comes straight out the other side lol. good luck
