the front brake calipers are red
i thought a little bit of red showing
through the front alloys to match the
red pin stripe in the bumper and the red
dot on the GSI badge's
but rear drums BLACK OR RED ?????????????
the alloys are brand new 16" irmscher softstars

bit of a update (sorry no photo's)

had most of the day in the garage and quite happy with what i got done
got the front brakes built up,
fitted the rear drums, new bearings and paint the drums red,
bled all the brakes,
set the gear linkage up
fitted my magnex exhaust
fitted my new soft stars (only to make sure they don't catch the arches)
checked all the unions on the fuel lines
put some fuel in the tank
fitted new battery
and crossed my fingers

turned it over a few times with the spark plugs out
and a little oil in each cylinder

refitted the spark plugs
and away she went :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

its now for the first time in about three years
now sat on all four wheels

thursdays job's
out of the garage
take some photo's
check and set up the tracking
start cleaning and refitting the interior and dash

had a quick temp fit of the rear bumper to line up and fit
the full exhaust system "magnex"
photo's allso show repair arch fitted on nearside rear
and full quarter panel on offside,
all front and rear brakes built up and wheel's on :)

then i made a start on the interior
fitted all the carpets started to clean and refit parts
then the dash went back in
hand brake lever was refitted after afew coats
of black paint

allso my new 0000 miles clocks were fitted
i thought just about every nut and bolt on the car was
new i may have well get some new clocks as well

bit of an update for the last couple of days

nearly got dash finshed
drivers and rear seats in
rear inner boot panels
seat belts
alloys back of and on steel wheels (to go to bodyshop)
front end all built up, bumper, grille, headlamps etc

fingers crossed should be going to the bodyshop on monday :)

to line everything up, fitted some stainless steel
bolts and washers to hold the wings on under the bonnet
the new GSI front bumper out and on (very happy)

anyway
at the moment the GSI is parked in the bodyshop
(i took it today as the weather's reported to be wet tomorrow)
the windsreen and the rear quarter glass all removed
side gsi stickers removed, door locks, handles, mirrors

and scott just about everything that hasn't been painted
should be painted.
the bonnet, front wings and new front bumper
have been done before i refitted them.

i'll try and get some photo's this week

the nova was in the bodyshop, over the last couple of days
with all the glass removed apart from the boot lid glass
all the trims and handles, wipers etc

the roof, both rear quarter panels, both doors, front wings,
rear bumper, all window/door posts, front panel under the windsreen
all have been painted.
the bonnet, front bumper, grille have been done before i refitted them
the only thing i'm not painting is the boot lid.


here it is after its had some more work on the rear arches, quarter panels
i'd fitted with some primer on

the bonnet was painted, on both sides
when all the panels were removed
allso front bumper and both front wings got done.

so the plan was to paint everything else
and just blend the doors in to the front wings
up to the side repeaters
(thats why the front lamps wasn't removed)

i striped the parts of and left it with the painter
and the photo's are how i found it.

I know what you mean about the silk violet
it does look nearly the same in photo's
but a mistral grey and silk violet
parked next to each other
you can see the difference

not a great deal has been done :(
a few bits
brand new gm lock set fitted
both door handles have been painted and fitted
the bar between the quarter glass
and the door window painted and fitted
windsreen back in
wiper motor back on

the problem i have i'm still trying to find the
stickers to go on the B post between the
door glass and the rear side glass

so i can't refit all the glass, trims and panels

so if anybody know's where i can get some from
please PM me

rear windows and window trims back on
loads of wax oil on innner rear arches
rear inner quarters panels on
most of the interior plastics

its starting to take shape now (at last)

the nova has gone north and will be looked after very well

the man who won the car uses PNG so its up to him

The trip back was surprisingly pain free using that A-Frame Vlietje, I do hope at some point to possibly attend some shows as Stuart really did a fantatic job with the car. I'll need to get used to not just cleaning the round the car, but underneath as well :)
