Spax coilovers - spring size

So I need to fit some 350lb springs to my Spax front coilovers, which should be on their way to me as I type this. Rallydesign have a myriad of springs available, but what size do I need?

Sizes are:

1.9" wide (in height 6, 7, 8, 9, 10")
2 1/4" wide (in height 7, 8, 9, 10.5, 12")
60mm wide (in height 7, 8, 10, 12")

Nice mix of metric, imperial, decimal and fractal on their site btw lol

I want it to be lowered around 40mm... so which size would be best?

What type of spax coilovers? From what i remember from mine they were about 2.25

im not sure what ones you need jack but why buy 350lb springs

Because my current XE weight springs, which I think are 300lb, aren't strong enough lol

Alex, thought spax only made one type of coilover? Its RSX ones (with proper front coilovers, not the kit with strut/spring)

oh i was thinking 300lb or 350lb was over kill i put cossie ones on mine thik they are about 220lb and its solid

people run 300lb+ springs on 1300 nova's lol.


make sure you get the correct size. my mate just bought some off some dodgy lad on corsa sport for his corsa LET with spax rsx shocks.

i say dodgy because the springs dont even fit on the spring perches/adjusters properly, they look to be a good few MM too small a diameter and will serviously damage the shocks if used.

so i'd wind a spring seat down and measure the diameter of it so u know the correct size springs.

as for length it could be abit of trial and error...

erm nope but it was 3 not that long ago :thumb:

Aye i just checked mine, the springs are 60mm ID (it is roughly about 2.25") and the shock is just under 2inch OD. Hope that helps.

2.25 I'd go with, Spax is a big brand name, I cant see them straying from a widely used nominal diameter used by nearly all big brand coilover manufacturers.

Id go for a 8-9inch spring
