My wheel bearing has gone, and i need to replace it.
I thought it would be easier to replace the whole steering knuckle from another car!
if there are no nova's at the breakers yard can i use the steering knuckle off a corsa?
thanks

(sorry renamed the title as something else because nobody was taking notice of my last post!)

if your bearing has gone, what use would it be replacing the track rod end?

unless you mean the whole hub assembly. to be honest, theres no garuntee (sp) that a scrappie one will be any better than yours. get a bearing, take the hub off and take it to a garage/mate with large press to replace, at least you know its going to be a good bearing then

yeh i ment the whole hub assembly, because then i'd have the bearing in it, and anything will be better then what i got, but will a corsa one fit? (and im really keen as i need to know cause im going tomorrow and im going off soon so i need to know before i go)

a corsa wheel bearing is 46 mm an nova wheel bearing is 44 mm iirc either way there bigger lol

i took a whole carrier of a corsa 1.2 as i had bent mine and it went straight on?

remember when u do the hub nut back up, tighten it and slacken it a coupla times before u lock it down, otherwise the hub/shaft/nut assembly doesnt seat correctly and the bearing wears fairly quickly.

i never said the hub wouldnt fit lol just that the wheels bearings are differnt sizes, i had corsa hubs then found out the the bearings were double the price of nova one's so went an founds some nova one's lol

Plus nova wheels bearings are like £10. the knuckle/hug will cost more than that.

Thats the spirit :D I done a similiar with the Nova Van, although I suppose you cant compare a snapped rear beam to a funked bearing really....

just put a corsa hub carrier/nuckle straight on. will work out cheaper and easier and quicker in the long run.

i.e grab one from the scrappy and fit it. saves having to take your off. thene buy a new bearing only to take it somewhere to pay them to press the old one out and new one in and then u gotto fit it all again lol,

S/H all the way lol

never have any problems wit S/H bits like this. just make sure its not come off a crash damaged car and theres not play in it (after undoing the shaft) and u'll be all good.
