Alternator Types - Bosch/Delco - Interchangeable?

I've just got a replacement alternator for my Sport, when I went to fit it, I noticed it was completely different to the one that was there.

Subsequently I've read up and found there seems to be two types, a delco one and Bosch one. Are they interchangeable? They seem to have different types of connections on the back?

If they are interchangeable, I also noticed that the Bosch one has an external voltage regulator, where does this this connect up to? Is it the live terminal?

it bolt in the same ?
just different on the electrical side ?

Yes, bolts in the same, but just not sure what to do with the electrics, it doesn't have the same connections...
