Ah not seen this before. Should be a good one for you to thrash as previous owner did.

Are you going to change the outside to put your mark on it, or keeping it as "Lees old car". lol

The nova now has a new home

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p72/wiggardywoo/Track%20nova%20build/001-3.jpg

Its an old cow shed, it has a lower bit in the middle, two raised bits either side. Would be nice to have somewhere flat but this is a decent size and cheap :)

All our stuff is crammed in the middle at the moment as they are doing a bit of concrete work to make the outside bits more usable.

Popped down to see Russ and check progress today...

Everything is now painted up now. Shame they are a bit too shiny, might have to polish the rest of the car lol

put the grill there to show the difference

Didnt waist any time before putting stickers on :d

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p72/wiggardywoo/Track%20nova%20build/019.jpg

Russ agreed with Stu about my shonky exhaust so cut the wibbley wobbley bit out...

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p72/wiggardywoo/Track%20nova%20build/010-1-1.jpg

...and fitted a straight bit of mild in its place.

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p72/wiggardywoo/Track%20nova%20build/014-1.jpg

Also added a flexi from a zafira.

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p72/wiggardywoo/Track%20nova%20build/016-1.jpg

Brake pipes are all done. Check out the love heart. Thats how much Russ loves this nova lol

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p72/wiggardywoo/Track%20nova%20build/006-3.jpg

Also raised up the hydrolic handbrake so its more user friendly.

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p72/wiggardywoo/Track%20nova%20build/007-3-1.jpg

Then he layed a cable in the back (dirty funker)

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p72/wiggardywoo/Track%20nova%20build/026-1.jpg

and used the spare wiper hole for the kill switch.

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p72/wiggardywoo/Track%20nova%20build/022.jpg

I then popped down to the local hose supplyers and picked up 7 metres of high pressure braided fuel line for 56 quid :wisewood:

Oops, last update was 9 months ago.. lol

Well with moving house and getting a new job I dont really have time to finish it, so i've decided to break it...

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p72/wiggardywoo/novbuildstripped.jpg

not really, just dropped it down to Russ again for him to finish, I've changed my mind on the engine front

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p72/wiggardywoo/novbuildeng2.jpg

Z32SE removed from a Vec C GSI, has had a few bits done, From Mr Dixons for sale ad...

3.2V6 engine with modified 2.5 heads (gas flowed), G & J cams, new steel head gaskets, new water pump, new timing belt kit, rst spark plugs, new 8mm red silicone ignition leads, modified inlets from c25xe inlcuding loom and ecu. The engine should be putting out around 240bhp+, they are standard at 218 but this is not standard. the engine is running on cav v6 loom, ecu and manifolds, the compression should be up to the same as the early v6 engines

Although the engine hadn't long been "rebuilt" Russ decided to do the cambelt, good job as one of the cam pullys was about to fall off :wtf:

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p72/wiggardywoo/novbuildeng1.jpg

also added some ally rocker covers with GM gaskets to lower oil mpg lol

Obviously the standard XE clutch wont take the power so I picked the paddle clutch off ebay, plus a lightweight flat type billet fly off WillF, got the paddle recovered and the fly skimmed for 85 quid which seems a fair price.

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p72/wiggardywoo/novbuildpaddle.jpg

and finally engine in,

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p72/wiggardywoo/novbuildengin.jpg

Russ is working on this when he doesn't have real customers cars to work on, so progress will still be slow.

An XE clutch would have been fine?

It cant be that much past 240bhp can it?

Hobbit
24-08-11, 09:54 AM
A standard xe clutch built for 150bhp would be fine for constant abuse from 240bhp ish v6 round combe? Mmm kay, think I'll cover my **** with a half decent clutch.

And anyway, did I "need" omp carbon fibre bucket seat, or a quiafe lsd, or did I "need" to paint my fibreglass panels? So why are we grumbling over a couple of quid for a refurbed clutch? :wtf:

scott.parker
24-08-11, 10:16 AM
Dude imo that clutch is the best thing you will have replaced, it wont have cost much more then a standard plate either, and in my own experience with mine there the best thing you can fit/use, as at least I'm burning out my tyres and not my clutch! lol plus with an lsd you would burn the standard clutch with that much power imo, who wants slippage?
Ok it might of been why my drive shafts has been killed and both cv's were mashed, but least i know where the power is going and not being lost in slip, so i say cracking purchase!

also fitting a full dash back in and a key start so i can take it to the shops without it getting robbed (as easily) Should also make it a bit more insurable.

I'm so taking it through the drive through so i can watch thier face as a demand they post my big mac though the small hole in my poly carb windows lol

FLOL, you need to have a camera going for that one and post the vid on here lol

Reminds me of the old Clarkson vid 'unleashed on cars' and he is driving a countash, he says that about the pitiful little window drop on those, 'imagine trying to order a big mac, through that' lol

No shame in that mate. Got Bored was built mostly from parts of friends or friends of friends race, rally or track cars (here aswell as elsewhere).

No shame :) the carbon fibre seats are out of a Ferrari race car which I think is pretty cool.

Right, Russ has been a bit busy but with the gritters coming out to play soon its not going onto the road till spring time anyway.

Got some Dunlop slicks for my spare wheels...

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p72/wiggardywoo/trackslicks.jpg

Gsi rad fitted, they've made up some brackets to space out the drivers side. It just gives a bit more space for a hose and eliminates the chance of the hose kinking.

Also standard tank is back on, rear manifold has been modified, and alt and alt belt is back on.

Big jobs left are exhaust and wiring.
