Right then, this has just had me and Burgo scratching our heads, im want to get coupe discs for my nova rather than having 288 V6 discs re-drilled, so after grooming ebay, i came across these

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FRONT-BRAKE-DISCS-FIAT-COUPE-MULTIPLA-TIPO-2-0-1-6-16v_W0QQitemZ220372434432QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Car sParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item220372434432&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1689%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C 240%3A1318

But as i did, Burgo sent me this link:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FRONT-BRAKE-DISCS-FIAT-BRAVO-COUPE-MAREA-1995-ONWARDS_W0QQitemZ220372434224QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK _CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item220372434 224&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1689|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A13 18

Check the disc dimentions and prices lol! Im not sure if these are the right discs anyway (offset/thickness dimensions)

The ones I used were 284 mm for a 96 fiat coupe non turbo
Anothere point worth making is you'll need a 14mm drill bit to open up the holes due to the stud patten being slightly smaller

Thanks but i know all these things. Im getting that many discs come up with different measurements, i know i want 284's but the other set is 283.6 and with the other dimensions exactly the same....

I can't see .4 of a mm being a problem just buy the cheaper ones

gunny

If you need to drill the holes out, why not just ge gm discs and drill the holes?

gunny
02-04-09, 08:50 PM
Because the fiat ones are cheaper and less effort to drill....

Benn
02-04-09, 08:54 PM
Drilling is drilling tho.
And they are just as cheap from ebay.

gunny
02-04-09, 08:56 PM
On the GM discs you have to completely drill new holes to fit your 2 stud hubs, and get the little spiggot ring thingys, on the fiat discs you put a 14mm drill bit through the existing four 13mm holes (to make them slightly larger) and you dont need to use the spigot rings.....

Benn

I thought the centers where the same size?

gunny
02-04-09, 08:58 PM
Not as far as i know, and even so, its still less effort with the fiat discs

Adam
02-04-09, 09:00 PM
Its easier just opening 1/2holes up than having to get a template and mark out a hole to drill etc.

Benn

Center bore is 56.5. Well from what info i can find.

gunny
02-04-09, 09:02 PM
Give up lol its still easier to use the fiat ones

this man speaks sense.

do not use fiat discs as there not designed to fit. they are the wrong offset. every set ive seen have needed some spacers/washers fitted between the caliper/hub to move the caliper inwards slightly to sit central over the fiat discs.

also the centre bore is wrong aswell. only a couple of millimeters larger but still effectively will not sit central over the hub and the gap is so small spigot rings wont even fit.

so do it properly with spigot rings and re-drilled v6 discs. or buy some ready re-drilled v6 discs off chris astley for £45 new, or go for the meriva discs

i did think that browney, iirc they only work on corsa c's due to the caliper mount point spacings. ah well.

so do your pads not cover the whole disk, surley you get a lip on the pads were its not mating with the disk being smaller ?????

Just bumping this as i need some new discs.
Who actually uses Meriva discs on here then???
Are they the same offset/pcd etc as nova's???

Anyone know how much they are from a dealers? As they seem rare as fook to find in factors. There all 260s in 4stud form....

£50 a set for 4 stud 280 mm from auto vaux fella when i rang up, but i have never used them an i dont realy like the idea of the disk being smaller an not covering the full surface area of the pad lol

Adam
03-05-09, 01:19 PM
Do they fit on the nova hub without opening any holes or anything out?

TBH, Fiat coupe discs are something like 283.7mm..... So a difference of 3.7mm isnt going to make a huge amount of difference????
As im using 284 Cally turbo calipers
