reet, im gonna slap something together.
no maths involved, going on faith.
what are the odds it'll destroy itself ?
i want something quicker than my 1.2 carb, but not something thats gonna guzzle fuel too bad.
im thinking combo 1 for the above, might produce a quick and relatively economical wagon ?
combo 2 would be nice too, but im shy of a 1.3 inlet.
and combo 3 would be prety nice, but would guzzle a fair amount.

combo 1: (emporers standard)
- 1.4 bottom end
- 1.2 head, inlet & pierburg 1b

combo 2: (emporers steed)
- 1.4 bottom end
- 1.2 head
- 1.3 inlet
- pierburg 2e

combo 3: (emporers champion)
- 1.4 bottom end
- 1.2 head
- 1.3 inlet
- 1.4 cam, dizzy & coil
- pierburg 2e

infact, lemme re-phrase my original question, will combo 1 run ok or have fueling probs ? ive got an idea to go for combo 1, then when i get a 1.3 inlet, upgrade the carb for combo 2.

Just to add, the cam from the 1.4 will need the IGN setup from a 1.4.

But looking at all those, check the CR otherwise it might not even run.

And this isnt going to be cheap remember! All the gaskets/bolts/cambelt etc.

yes they will all run and be reasonably econimical

talkin of gaskets, thats just jolted my brain, what head gasket am i gonna be wanting, 1.2 or 1.4 .. or maybe something hybrid like a 1.6 if it'l fit ?

and am i gonna need a hybrid cambelt too or will a 1.2 / 1.4 item fit

gasket sets gonna be about £20
head bolts looks like around £10
cambelt looks like another £10
oil & filter roughly £20
if i splashed out another £60 for new piston rings, hmm might make all the difference.

Combo 3 isn't that far off what I had really.

Use the gaskets that match the block, and for the cam belt and pulleys just use all 1.4 stuff.

yep!

To clarify what my old spec was,

C14SE bottom end
13SB head (skimmed a couple of times!)
Piper 285 deg cam
32/34 weber
14NV pulleys, tensioner and dizzy set-up
Completely standard exhaust system
modified standard airbox

That made 95bhp (restricted by the carb size), managed 45mpg around town, but only 15mpg if you were booting it around the lanes.

mine was around this spec, but skimmed some more and an open filter, made 107bhp :)

but fuel was funny tbh
at full boot, it used 1/4 tank in 15miles lol

Mine used that much when it had the 32/34 on a standard 13sb doing 10 laps of Elvington Airfield! Mind, it was carrying me and big Chris(16v) from selby at the time, and neither of us are small blokes!

(That 13SB boiled it's oil after over-heating a few weeks later, lol )
